A computer with very rudimentary functions in 1969 took up a whole room back then, yet the capsule was barely big enough for 3 dudes, what about the fuel, oxygen, food, water, waste and didn't they take a Jeep too? We didn't even have cell phones back then yet we could send moving pictures back space? If we have advanced at all since then, why did we never go back?

scooterboy67, There were six lunar landings in all, each one of them documented by a camera situated inside the Lunar Lander pointing out through the triangular window. The footage is preserved and available to view on KZbin - the audio component is pretty stunning too. The astronauts' exit from the Lander down the ladder was filmed in the same way each time, by means of a camera attached to the side of the Lander . . .

(To be honest, so far it's not that important, whether it was recorded or not, but it would add some value ...) And was the separation of CM and LM recorded? Was CM camera (was it there?) filming LM going away, and LM camera filming CM going away? Was Collins filming the Moon, the Earth, the Sun, well, whatever he could, while he was orbiting the Moon? Nobody "bought out" the Soviet Union and Communist Red China, which were the West's bitter ideological enemies for 40 years until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. (Hell, we almost had a global nuclear war in 1962 when the Soviets put nuclear missiles in Cuba). And also, other countries didn't wait to be told by NASA what was happening. Both the Soviets and the Chinese (as well as other countries) carefully monitored the Apollo missions, tracking them to and from the moon. If either the Soviets or the Chinese found any evidence that the US was lying about the Apollo programme they would have shouted it from the rooftops. It would have been the greatest propaganda coup of the Cold War. But they didn't do so, not because they had been "bought off", but because they reluctantly accepted that the missions had been successful.

Think of gravity on earth when you're weak and ill - you walk slower because your limbs don't have the strength to fight the pull of gravity. The only thing I never fully understood was why NASA, in their wisdom, chose to broadcast a second hand image of the moon landing? What most people don't realize is the moon landing footage is actually a recording of a TV screen. A camera was pointing at a TV screen in NASA that was showing the LIVE feed from the moon. This substantially degraded image was then broadcast around the world as opposed to showing the more superior quality live broadcast from the moon.
@eventcone
@eventcone 2 жыл бұрын
How do you know it was "substantially degraded"? Either way that is a purely qualitative description. As to why NASA did it: they did it because they wanted to televise the first steps onto the lunar surface - and of course everyone wanted to see them so that makes perfect sense. Unfortunately they were limited as to the bandwidth they could transmit through the Lunar Module's high gain antenna (designed for transmitting voice communications and telemetry). NASA had a design for a larger erectable dish antenna that could be placed on the lunar surface to transmit colour TV to Earth. But the obvious problem there was that Armstrong would have had to walk onto the surface to erect this antenna before any TV could be sent to Earth. So if they wanted to televise the 'first steps' they had to use the lower bandwidth available through the LM's dish antenna. This forced them to comission a special tv camera that imaged the surface activity using a smaller number of scan lines than normal that could be accommodated via the LM's antenna. Again unfortunately, this meant that the picture being transmitted was not compatible with the television networks standard TV picture. NASA then comissioned a system that would 'convert' between the two systems - and it seems that the only way to do that was to point a network TV camera at a screen showing the pictures being received from the Moon. As Armstrong's and Aldrin's moonwalk was limited to only 2.5 hours, it was decided to dispense with the erectable antenna (saving on the time taken to erect it - a significant portion of their alloted 2.5 hours) and transmit the whole spacewalk at the lower bandwidth. Future missions (Apollos 12 & 14) used the erectable antenna and later (Apollos 15, 16 & 17) the Lunar Rover's high gain antenna to transmit conventional colour TV pictures (though Alan Bean on Apollo 12 did accidentally damage their TV camera at some point, which sadly prevented TV pictures from being transmitted). This is well known. If you look into it you will find more details than I, from memory, have been able to give you here.
@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre1504
@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre1504 2 жыл бұрын
The degraded picture quality was intentional I believe. A higher quality signal would have come under much closer scrutiny in terms of detail. Factor in that time was running out, ("we will put men on the moon by the end of the decade" was something Kennedy had said), we had to be 'seen' to have landed on the moon.

What ended the program was the withdrawal of the MASSIVE extra funding given to NASA to make it happen; upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/NASA-Budget-Federal.svg To get men to the moon required building the largest and the most powerful rocket in history, the Saturn V, with rocket engine technology that has barely changed TODAY (so name your claimed advances). The SLS rocket due to launch in June NEXT YEAR is as large and as powerful as the Saturn V and therefore will be the rocket that takes people back to the moon in 2023.

+Nicholas Nowak - You seem to forget that most conspiracy theories start within universities, often with professors having publicly spreading those, thus the reason its gone public in the first place and we even know about those conspiracies. Also "no research, no experience" is what really describes those that believe what TV is telling to them. They think scientist believe something because TV is telling them that they are. While having no friend in scientific community, or any experience themselves. My knowledge come from my background in physics and math. Just by common physics and math, you can prove that Apollo program is fake, JFK was not shot by Oswald and 911 inside job using directed energy technology (like Dr. Judy Wood has popularized). What helps is to understand that small cabal had control over creation of money (Aka central banks) in the 18th century on. They also got in charge of freemasons and Illuminati (that hides inside masonry), so buying everything, controlling everything, is really pretty simple thing. Small number of hidden insiders get to help others in an each other to the top.

@G-ra-ha-m

The reflectors they covered was a simple trick, NASA chose a bright spot from their pre-apollo laser ranging and mapping surveys to land in. Hey presto - instant bright spot, it 'must' be our reflector - it's not like you can see it it was darker before Apollo. The biggest 1/6th g error was with the LRV, twice: the weight was only 75 pounds yet they tested on earth a cumbersome winch system to get it down - why? Also carving those tight corners and throwing up all that dust (washed sand) was clearly in 1g, with 1/6th downforce (and therefore grip) the surface grip is like damp ice and they would have skated and spun off on those corners. The other myth is not being able to see stars, something Hubble does in the full sunlight routinely (even very faint stars) - not one of the astronauts went into the LM shadow and looked up? No chance. Mythbusters also compared a fake model to a fake model, but failed to point out that on the MGM Borehamwood soundstage where AS11 landed the 'tell' or obvious mistake is the lack of lunar surface behind the LM (or in any picture). The land simple vanished after 30 feet as if in a small garden (or soundstage). They also omitted to point out the missing things from the fakes, like the roar of the descent engine in the cabin (they were not wearing helmets) and the total lack of a single piece of docking footage despite Apollo involving many docks over 7 missions.

Yep you are right pragmatist, it is a mental condition that some people need to give themselves the impression that they know something or understand something the general populus does not. To admit that they were wrong would be to destroy the emotional support that this belief gives them that in at least one area of their lives they are "special"... which could actually cause them mental harm. People who believe in one conspiracy theory are very statistically likely to believe in others.

Jeff, you are confusing a sceptics lack of belief of NASA's dodgy story with the need to 'believe' in a conspiracy. A conspiracy is simply a group of people deciding something in secret, happens everyday. Like the conspiracy to invade Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Libya: I guess you don't think that happened either. Your main problem is that 250 miles has remained the ceiling for NASA and if Apollo happened, you can't explain that.

The same Jarrah White proved (without meaning too) that the astronaut passed close enough to the flag to touch it. And there's obvious evidence that the flag was in a vacuum, but we can come to that later :-)

What is the probability that 6 missions would have zero casualties for a 580,000 mile round trip to the moon. Never been done before. The Eagle docking with the mother ship travelling at 4,000 mph. You know there were 99 test missions prior to Apollo right? From Mercury through Gemini, Explorer, Ranger, Scout, Pioneer and more. They did this testing for a reason. Even with all of that, they put the chances of success on Apollo 11 at 50/50. 3 people were burned to death during Apollo 1 and Apollo 13 nearly ended in disaster. Testing happens for a reason, to try to improve design and minimise risk. Your consideration of “probabilities” is inherently flawed I’m afraid.

Yeah, ok. The footage of the 6 manned missions the moon have all gone missing with the exception to the proverbial Apollo 11 clips of Armstrong and Aldrin frolicking on some unknown surface. And the technology employed for the moon missions have all been “destroyed” (per NASA). Very strange, no? I have seen the mythbuster’s episode of debunking the moon landing and all it did was make me more certain that it never happened. They said the only way to re create the zero gravity effect was if you were actually in a low gravity environment. Bruh, I managed to re create the zero g moon walk effect in my back yard using my phone and a crappy free video editor. People act like it would be impossible to things like that in the 60s. What planet are they on? Of course you could do that in the 60s. It would have been really easy, especially with a budget like NASA’s
@eventcone
@eventcone 2 жыл бұрын
No footage has gone missing, except for the back up recording of the Apollo 11 moonwalk (not required as soon as the footage entered the public domain). No moon walk took place in "zero g". The Moon has gravity (about 1/6th of Earth gravity). Hollywood has been unable to recreate that to this day. What planet are you on? You don't even know the value of the gravitational constant on the Moon.
@opagp4301
@opagp4301 2 жыл бұрын
@@eventcone Bruh, the zero gravity effect is easy to re-create. All you have to do is record yourself taking a light run and then when you slow the video down it looks VERY similar to the moonwalk footage from the apollo missions. Besides, the only reason I left this comment was because I was writing an essay on it for school and I was trying to get other peoples opinions so that I could create some counter arguments
@eventcone
@eventcone 2 жыл бұрын
@@opagp4301 Well if you are writing an essay for school, you need to understand some of the principles involved. Gravity on the Moon's surface is not "zero gravity" as you term it, it is one sixth of the gravity we experience here on the surface of Earth (as I had already stated). This is due to the Moon's smaller mass. What that means is that whereas a falling object on Earth accelerates at 9.81 metres per second every second (ignoring air resistance), a falling object on the Moon accelerates at approximately one sixth of that value, or 1.63 metres per second every second. Walking on the Moon (or running, jumping, hopping) looks like slow motion because with every step an astronaut has to wait longer for his foot to come down onto the surface, due to the weaker gravity. It is possible to APPROXIMATE this effect on Earth by using slow-motion photography (as you suggest). However this also slows down the motion of an astronaut's arms to an unnatural extent. In other words if you sped up the Apollo moonwalk videos until the astronauts looked as if they were moving in Earth gravity, their arm movements would then be unnaturally fast. One final point - if the Apollo footage had been filmed on Earth, the dust disturbed from the surface would also tend to become suspended ('float') in the air. This simply never happens in the dozens of hours of Apollo moonwalk videos - instead the disturbed dust follows a beautiful parabolic arc back to the surface. This can only happen in vacuum. The same goes for dust thrown up by the wheels of the Lunar Rover - remember how a car driving down a dusty track leaves a trail of dust floating in the air behind it? No so the Lunar Rover. Watch the videos and observe how the dust behaves. These simple facts are one of the best pieces of evidence that the Apollo moonwalk film and video footage was indeed captured ON THE MOON.

mark caine The data stored on the tapes were of no particular importance. The tapes were needed for later missions. What do you think telemetry is for? It is to inform remote decision making in flight, and also any post-flight investigation that may become necessary, and the mission reports. Once the pertinent data has been extracted (as required), the reports written and any necessary investigations completed, there is no reason to retain it on tape. Telemetry is also about equipment performance (i.e. the Apollo spacecraft). Once the equipment becomes obsolete, so does the telemetry!

nightmisterio, They didn't lose the audio tapes. A lot of the audio is preserved and, yes, available to listen to on KZbin. Nine moon missions each lasting a week or more - that's a lot of audio. You might find 'Apollo 13 Accident: Flight Director's Loop' interesting, all 6 hours of it . . .

@@nightmisterio You would earn my respect if you listened to the audio ('Apollo 13 Accident: Flight Director's Loop') and made a judgement on it - in the same way that I listen to/watch hoax videos (for example Bill Kaysing, Marcus Allen and Bart Sibrel) and make a judgement on those . . .

@@jamesneilsongrahamloveinth1301 Let me give a example of the deception: in Mythbusters Se01 Ep04 the Ice Bullet (calling it "magic bullet" was a deception on it self) the show deemed the ice bullet as BUSTED, and I find that really funny because we can see a ice poison darth gun, a modified Colt 1911, being shown that could pierce through clothing, leaving no signs of impact on the skin except a small red dot that would then create a heart attack with no other traces. Yes, There is a CIA Heart Attack ice dart Gun - A 1975 Congressional Hearing Confirmed it. You can see it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ap6ZlZ-aq7N4eas Tell me again who do you respect?

That is of course the supreme advantage of being right - always having an answer. Don't be mad. The hoax believers have their own advantage - namely they don't have to worry about the truth and can (and do) make up any old shit in attempts to keep their claims 'alive and kicking'.

@Sinjin Smyth No, it is not being ignored. The problem is that the full facts are not referred to by idiots like you. When Apollo 11 landed, live footage was shot for use during the initial broadcast. As a precautionary back-up, in case there was a technical problem with the live coverage, a video tape was also recorded of the landing. It is this video tape that was subsequently either mislaid or taped over. But that doesn't matter since the live footage was successful and millions around the world saw the landing. So why do people like you ignore that fact and try to make an issue of the "lost tape" when it ultimately didn't matter. Besides, you don't mention the tapes taken during the landings of Apollo's 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. Why not? Please give a proper answer - or shut-up.

Hold up. So they faked everything in a studio (which is basicly impossible especially in the 60s) and paid milions over milions of dollars and have thousands of people involved in the hoax but they loose the footage? How is that in any way a good argument?
