Just want to add that this Catacombs expansions is supposed to be the last one and then the product line is done. Also, the Monolith discord is more active than BGG if you want more info on Conan, Mythic Battles Pantheon/Ragnarok/, Batman Gotham City Chronicles, etc.

I'd like to know what we backers can do about Mythic Games thievery. They squandered our money (even VAT and shipping) and then they sold Anastyr + HEL IPs and grabbed another cash for it. They lied about Anastyr + HEL being their flag ships (see their claim after restructualization a year ago) and knew from the start that they are going to use our money for other purposes. Backers who spent several hundred dollars for expansions (and more for shipping + VAT) will be screwed by just the core box. It is a slap in the face of all crowdfunding backers. Many lost confidence in crowdfunding. I think kickstarter or gamefound should help us backers to get at least VAT + Shipping back.

there is no money to give back . There is no easy legal way to get money from a limited liability company . At best claw back recessive remuneration of directors , Civil law is very expensive , time consuming and companies often don't pay anyway

The answer is nothing, Holy Grail games is the example, company went bankrupt, people tried to sue and couldn't because crowdfunding is considered gifting money to the publisher with no guarantee of getting anything back.

Love Dice Throne. I met Nate and the DT team at PaxU, and had so much fun playing in a tourney they hosted. I tried their Marvel Missions prototype. As someone who doesn’t care for comic book IPs (in fact I prefer original IP), I thought Missions was SO much fun! They really nailed teamwork and collaboration with their new mechanics. They should make more Missions with their own IP as well as Marvel, it was a very different experience than DT and DT Adventures

Sure there are good people there, but even among them are people who don't know what they are doing and take people for a ride as a result. Or just don't care how long it takes to finish something. But then you have the companies like Mythic who are just in business to make the campaigns. Honestly I think the whole process should go away entirely. If that means less ideas become products, *shrug*

Thank you for connecting the dots on the Mythic/Monolith difference. I kept getting confused by hearing bad things about "Mythic" and not realizing there was a game company and a game from a separate company.

The reason they seem to be in constant overlap is because Batman, Conan, and Mythic Battles are the main things Monolith has released and released expansions for. That being said, because of Mythic Games who they were partnered with for mythic Battles: Pantheon going the route they did, Monolith has openly acknowledged they were headed in the same direction, and have taken steps to show they are NOT going to follow their former partner. Mythic Battles: Egypt isn't said to launch until months after Conan wraps up, and Egypt will be mostly done with production. Ragnarok was a year and a half late. They have said after Ragnarok they won't be doing any projects until the ones that were late were delivered, and were not going to risk needing to use future projects to fund past ones Whether they stick to this remains to be seen. But they are taking steps to say "We Aren't Mythic Games"

Wow. So many good topics. I've been waiting for the Gaia Project expansion for a long time and just the variability of the new scoring goals is worth the price. A little worried about the Ark Nova expansion. That game already has so many cards. If they have more it will just make it completely random. I'm hoping for a small prelude like expansion too. This problem with BGG and ratings is something they created but have no incentive to fix. If you could just rant and then trolls would stop being trolls, then The internet would have been fixed a long time ago. If you're bored one day and have time to waste, read the OTHER reviews from people who give 1's to objectively good and popular games.

I had $620 on Anastyr. RIP my pledge. Ark Nova - I really enjoy the game, but it's just a bit flawed in that card row. I thought the Marine expansion would help solve that, but not really. Helps and the new action cards are nice, but it doesn't mix up that row too much.

Same here with anastyr, sad. As for ark nova, there weren't much of a problem with randomness card row so the designer since it's open draft didn't see it as a flaw.

It's easy to find 1 icon, grab the other from association, claim conversation map bonus and viola, you got a full set of 5 You also block your opponent so your opponent has equally hard time so it's quite fair

We will get Monsterpacolypse probably with another "donation". Here's the thing they have contracts with other Ip's to get the other games done, were both Anastyr and Hel were both games made by mythic. Also Monsterpacolypse is probably the easiest to make content wise. Ansastyr and Hel had full on novels with branching story paths.

Overall, I'm thankful and celebrating this news from Mythic. Despite the rug pull of not getting the SAME game I backed, I'm happy to get SOMETHING from CMON rather than nothing but more agonizing from Mythic. I've been e-mailing them since last Spring to get store credit for my Anastyr pledge, with no response. Finally went to the Discord and spoke to Marco directly, in December. ALMOST got my credit, but then they went on holiday, and F**k me, I guess? No store credit in time to take advantage of the holiday sale they dare to spam us with. 🤣Wait til everyone comes back to work. So this was the one case where their awful communication and abysmal work flow worked in my favor, and my pledge remains on hold. Which is good, because I didn't want anything form their remaining inventory anyway, and was just gonna try and flip it to minimize the loss. I'm just glad to be free of Mythic after this. Good riddance!

A lot of these news are a sign of troubled economy. Brass needs no new edition, Catacombs is already way bloated and so on. I think that expansion quality has lessened in the last few years, but if it brings bread on the table, then it is perfectly fine and reasonable. I just wish there were more new interesting projects.

Mythic probably didn't even finish 50% of those games. What a * show. They also sold Anastyr to CMON. And CMON is going to ask shipping+VAT for that "free" core game you are getting. $100+ shipping anyone? LOL Let's see how many people are still going to defend Mythic Games after this one, you know there will be. They are just going to do the contractual obligations they have from the IP's they don't own and that's it. It's not for the backers they are doing it, they are doing it so they don't get sued. Mythic knew they were failing. They had to, at some point, well before where they are today. Probably when they were using the funds raised for some of their later games. Rather than stop production or restructure/downsize at that point they lumbered and lurched forward, knowingly misleading backers. They should have failed and failed quickly.

They will run them as crowdfunded campaigns, they have written that themselves. Why will it be a bloodbath? They even said that those who gave Mythic money, and got nothing for it, will actually get the base game, now from a completely different company. CMON didn't have to do that at all and I submit that is a kind gesture to show respect to backers that were being lied to by Mythic. CMON had nothing to do with Mythic's vile practices and no one could sincerely demand anything like this from CMON. Obviously it is likely that CMON giving the base game to those who got cheated by Mythic from their hard earned dollars will in total net CMON at least above 0 considering that many backers want to get expansions during the crowdfunding campaign. BUT! That will not change the fact that those who do not add expansions during the campaign will get a game back, where the alternative would have been that they would get nothing at all. This will likely be the kind of game where the base game price will be at least 130 dollars, so it is a big difference from having nothing at all.

This is the kind of thing where one's feeling turns out to be correct years later. I remember seeing that Mythic head Leo guy visiting youtube creators preview videos of Mythic's games. First time I saw him, I remember finding his facial expression and smile somehow untrustworthy. I was also struck with the fact that he was all over the US showing off his games - and this constantly. I thought... hm, can this really be financially correct to constantly fly out from France to the US, staying at hotels etc. etc. for being one out of four persons in 45 min long videos, again and again?

I once purchased a toy in a very nice package from a store just outside of my city. Turns out that store was knowingly selling a bad manufacturing batch with only broken toys. The store must have gotten that batch pretty much for free and reaped a 100% income from doing this. Just a few days after this the store closed down and who knows where that scumbag owner is now. Anyways, some new guy opened his own store in the same area as this old store. The dude sent out store credit to buyers of this toy for some of what it cost, in acknowledgement of how us customers of the toy got cheated by the previous store. But like, why didn't the new guy buy a completely new batch of this toy and give it to me for free? And why do I have to use my own money for gasoline to drive back to his store? I mean, those who took a taxi to buy the toy from that scumbag who left town are like out of 50 bucks? Jesus, the audacity of this new guy!
