@@tohon my nearest Cinnabon is about 50 miles away from my house, we don’t even have a Carl’s Jr anywhere around us because I’m in WNY. I would have to either make a 2 hour road trip or just make them myself and I just don’t feel like baking right now inside the house,it’s been 85 outside. Will I ever get my hands on cinnamon rolls. As a former store assistant manager of a pizza hut, the cinnamon rolls come frozen in a big bag within a big box from the same distribution center as the rest of the pizza dough so it really wouldn't surprise me if they did have the recipe changed slightly for the hut brand. It doesn't have the brand name Cinnabon anywhere on it except for a TIIIINY print on the box label and the frosting is a cream cheese frosting that comes frozen in individual pouches in a big box with the same type of labeling as the rolls. The reason they are squished like that when you get them is because when we do prep, we put them in those little trays and then let them thaw out in the walk-in fridge along with all the other prepped dough and veggies and thawing cases of cheese. At least at my store and all the stores in my district, we used the breadstick pans to proof them so there would be two paper trays per pan and the way you are supposed to bake them is each individual order in a half pan (a pan the size of a single order of breadsticks rather than a double order like what they are prepped in) and then you put a lid over the tray with holes in it to be nice and crispy on the outside. But if you ordered a double order (depending on who was on shift) they would bake them both in the same pan they were proofed in with a solid lid on them so when they come out, they look half baked and still pretty raw looking. Just fun facts :)

I'd bet the dough recipe is closer to a pizza dough to bake in the conveyor oven the pizzas are done in. When I worked at a Hungry Howie's and had dessert pizzas, we'd take a medium dough ball, make it long like bread sticks, cover it in the apple and streusel and basically make a strudel out of it in the store. Was killer

At my local mall the Cinnabon kiosk shares the same space and Auntie Anne's pretzels, and I both saw and confirmed with employees that the dough is the same for both.

So the Hut rolls are a licensed cinnabon product that shows up in a big ol cinnabon crate full of little frozen rolls. I think the cream cheese frosting is generic slop that also comes in frozen but Cinnabon has been a good partner. They're a lot less control freak about serving their product than say Nabisco was when we had those vile little Cheez-It things.

Frontier restaurant in Albuquerque (and now the Golden Pride restaurant that is the only remaining place I think) had these incredible dirt cheap decadent “guilt free” cinnamon rolls. Guilt free being because they didn’t have icing. But that cinnamon sugar butter soaking every inch sure brought the guilt. 😋

they used to make cinnabon fresh in the store, that was their whole thing. we made the dough, the frosting, everything from scratch. nowadays they're frozen and shipped in and virtually no store makes it in store anymore

Cinnabon has ruined me for any other cinnamon rolls, and I now live on a continent that does not have Cinnabon. It's been six years now. (Though I have to make a point for the Safeway cinnamon rolls that they have in the self serve pastry shelf, they were cheap as hell and actually very nice, I'll wholeheartedly recommend those as well.)

Native New Englander here. I agree that the donuts at Dunkin are the worst, even in Massachusetts where you can sometimes find 3 franchises in one intersection. I wish I were joking. Still, I must come to their defense on one point. That was not a cinnamon roll; it was a coffee roll. It's a completely different thing and can't be compared to a cinnamon roll. I rarely see these outside New England so maybe that's what has led to the confusion. Dunkin has enough to be ashamed about without having this added to their record. That being said, I am fully addicted to their blueberry iced tea. They do have a few winners.

Can confirm, the Pizza Hut cinnabons come frozen in a big bag. The Pizza Hut employees just take 6 out, put 'em in the tray, and run 'em through the pizza oven. Then add frosting when they come out.

There’s a Peach Cobbler Factory close to me, I don’t believe there’s one in California, but they have cinnamon rolls and there’s many different things you can put on them. I haven’t tried them yet but I love their peach sweet tea and mango peach cobbler served with ice cream
