MYTHOMORPHIA: Neocolor II background

So beautiful and galaxy effect achieved well. I really like the effect of pressing with your fingers it certainly helped soften and blur any lines. It also means that no one else can say that they created the background as your finger prints are all over it, lol! This is the first time I've seen Caran D'Ache Neocolor 11 I might just have to investigate them. Thank you for sharing your techniques and art with us!

very lovely! I love the pigmentation just by looking at this. And that you can easily play around until you're satisfied with the effect. I just ordered the 15 pack. More is not in the budget. ^^

I have the mondeluz watercolor pencils. I don't know if they'll do well in the role of the Kerby Rosanes books. In one of the drawings the lines of the pencil were marked. I have tried using my White Nights watercolors but there are papers that do not accept water well and it looks horrible. I know watercolors work, I already used it to paint the Foo Dog. And it was pretty cool. I have also practiced with pastel bars, I am using Rembrandt's. I'm still learning and there are times that I can't quite convince myself. I guess it's part of learning. I watch your videos and they cheer me up a lot, because you have a lot of style and your drawings are super pretty. Thank you!

Hi there i have just got the neocolor 11 84 set for Christmas and my birthday present due to how much they cost but I am so happy that I have finally got them. I only swatched the colours to see what they looked like and I really liked them but I wanted a sort of easy way to use them for my first time at actually colouring with them so I followed your video's and I am quite happy with how it turned out. Thank you so much for doing this video as it really helped me a lot on how to use the neocolor 11 for the first time. Once they are dried I will put a picture up on my Instagram account and try to tag you in it but if I can't I will say that I followed your tutorial video on you tube if that's ok? Hi great tutorial you achieved a beautiful background I was just wondering how do you get the page to lie flat again after it wrinkles and curls up from the addition of water ?

Thank you! It really isn't bad at all when you do it like this, but you can always try to gently curl the paper the other way or put you closed book under a lot of pressure for a period of time.

This background is beautiful. It looks like you do not sog up the paper so much. Other tuts, the color is runny which is fine on watercolor paper. It won't buckle. This book you are coloring in looks like other quality books like Magical Jungle and Summer Nights or Magical Dawn. Do you prepare the page with gesso or Media Gel Medium? I have tried using the inking ensemble water color pencils but am not crazy over them. These look real nice. Do you like this better. I have never worked in watercolor but oil or acrylic. These crayons make beaitiful backgrounds. This background is simply lovely. I like how you pat to soften and/or give it texture.

Thank you. I do you loads of water, but just in a small area at a time. The page will buckle, but it won't bleed through. The page will flatten quite a lot, if you store the book pressed between other books. Mythomophia is a quality book, but it is not the same paper as in Joanna Basfords or Hanna Karlzons books. I don't prepare the pages. Do you means the Inktense pencils? They're amazin, but they're not watercolor pencils. I don't prefer Inktense over Neocolors II or vise versa. They are both amazing and give very different results. They can't be compared in my mind. Thank you :)

Cynthia Rosiek Thank you! I don't use a lot of water at all. Only the flow from the waterbrush. The page does buckle a bit, but the water doesn't it at the paper.

Hello Katrine, I love what you did with the background and I'm thinking about buying these Neocolor II too. One question though: when completely dry, is it smudgeproof or does it still need sort of a fixative spray like pastel chalks?

How do the neocollors hold op when you colour over them? Not in the background but in this case the creature you where avoiding? I hope you know what I mean..

They hold up fine. They won't fall of the paper, if that's what you mean. The more opaque the pencil, the easier it is to cover. You can also use masking fluid :)

Michele C Hey :) There's absolutely no bleed through. Not even a shadow! And I'm quite sure that you can color on top of them, but I haven't tried that yet.

Michele C AlwaysColoring. Bunny designs and dede Williams both colour on top of the neocolor 11 and bunny designs have quite a few videos of her doing it and how she uses them. I have just got the neocolor 11 for my Christmas and birthday present and I have just done a copy of this video.

when your painting why do you put your finger in the paint and pat down on the paper and tap the paper I know I asked you this question before but I forgot what you told me

Haha :P It's easier for me to blend the colors that way.. I like the effect it gives and it dries way quicker for some strange reason :)
