PSA for anyone curious: Islamically, the husband is supposed to provide everything once they have a family. Also a husband owes the wife a dowry called Mahr, which can be money, gold, jewelry, whatever she agrees too. She can also say she doesn't want one. She's supposed to be aware of finances and she isn't expected to contribute financially to the household even if she works and makes more. What's his is hers and what's hers is just hers unless she chooses to pay for stuff. That's the ruling although people don't follow it all the time

See, there's a difference between Ed and the other guys. While the other guys might not be perfect, and they might be slightly douchebags, Ed is straight abusive. I'm a man raised by a single independent woman, and she was in an abusive relationship for a long time in the thing I know is the first tool of an abuser is isolation. The scary thing about Ed is is that he doesn't even try to hide his abusive behavior. He still believes the world finds him quirky and endearing, I see an abusive man. Just because he can't physically overpower Liz doesn't mean he's not mentally abusing her. That woman feels like she's not anything without Ed. However Liz's a big girl and can make her own decisions and she has a big support system and chooses not to use it.

Eh, 50/50. Ultimately she cares more about what people think about her than whether her son/children are happy or not, and there's no reason to think that she's become a shut in just because she didn't want to go on international TV and embarrass herself and expose the shame of her son with an old white woman all over again 😂

Yeah I def understand that it’s super hard in a different culture so I do have some empathy
@Tiamiabia Жыл бұрын
I understand it is not easy but unconditional love for your children trumps it all. It would suck to know you are losing some things but it would be from a selfish standpoint. She is not against the marriage because he is treated bad but because of her son will not lead the life she wants for him so I cannot sympathize

Honestly, watching Liz reminds me of my previous relationship. I was with a vulnerable narcissist (deflection, gaslighting, believed he was the gift to all women but failed miserably in the looks department, EXTREME passive aggressiveness, just general shiittiness) and I went back to him over and over and over again. Put up with his emotional abuse to the point I ended up hating myself (suicide attempt) and although I enjoy this show soooo much, the Liz and Ed dynamic gets to be triggering at times. I've found that I began reminiscing on the abuse I went through while watching a show I watched to laugh at and unwind! Trauma is such a biitch! Anyway, fkk Ed and honestly, at this point, fkk Liz. She has to WANT to seek out help like the rest of us that fell victim to a narc's abuse. Good luck with that 😕

Ed reminds me so much of my ex and I was a lot like Liz. Watching them reminds me anytime I think fondly of him what it really looks like & felt like most of the time. Those few good moments and promises weren't worth allllllllll of the misery.

It's disgusting that you're victim blaming when you're allegedly a victim yourself. But the pot loves to call the kettle black, you went back continuously too.
@she_sings_delightful_things Жыл бұрын
@@calmcuke6865 Oh....I'm sorry, but what exactly did you not understand about, " SHE HAS TO WANT TO SEEK HELP FOR HERSELF "? 🤔 I did go back. Quite a few times. But Liz KNOWS she needs help yet chooses not to seek it out. There's a big difference between not knowing you're a victim and knowing and if you know and do jack shiit about it, well, that's pretty silly now isn't it? Being dumped what, 10? 11? 12? 13 times now? But aside from that, let's get one massively enormous thing perfectly clear here; the traumatic experience I lived through didn't happen in front of the world, it was my word against his. It was him putting on the nice guy facade and painting me as the unstable, crazy one. He lied, cheated, abused and in the eyes of those around us, he was faultless so I had to learn how to find some strength and courage to leave my fkkn self. Liz's abuse is happening in front of the ENTIRE FKKN WORLD. Liz has HOARDS of people who've gone through the same thing she's going through, reaching out offering their advice and support. She has the entire world WITNESSING his abuse and calling him out for it. She does not have to fight to be believed. This chick has thousands upon thousands of people in her corner offering her the strength she needs to leave him yet despite the massive support, remains. The irony of you accusing me of victim blaming yet you're victim blaming me is hilaaaaarious though, thanks for the laugh, weirdo 🖕😂👌

Bilal is another Angela or Ed- they like to control with money and chose partners thry can manipulate into isolation from others and dependence on them. Bilal realized the only way to keep controlling Shaedda is to give her the baby she wants, but then he will guilt her into staying home, not pursuing her career, and still, won't let her in on the finances. He wanted to trap a gullible and forgiving woman, and he has gaslit her so much she doesn't know WHAT she wants anymore.
