first off thanks so much for even replying to me thats much appreciated, thank you. i have emailed on 3 separate times to chris. I bought this through lethal performance and even spoke with matt at lethal and he says the same thing. aside from a good ground, i bought the plug and play version just for ease of install. I haven't physically called myself, but matt did reach out to vmp himself monday and then called me on the issue. like i said i know they said those units dont fail and im so upset that somehow mine did in a short period of time. i installed my turbo kit myself so you can understand that connecting 2 plugs and a ground shouldn't be so difficult. the car made great power on 6lbs of boost. it did 622 to the tires. thanks again for the response as i know you didnt have to.

Great vid! To expand some, I guess you could say its a myth, for the Coyote anyway, the coyote fuel system changed the game up. I took a part a fuel hat when they first came out in 2011, tested the pump and then cut it open. I was looking into doing a larger single pump upgrade. I found out the stock coyote pump is a variant (detuned version) of the dcss turbine style pump made by ti automotive. Yup parent company of walbro who makes the now famous 400lph dual channel single stages for the aftermarket. Coyote pump flows around 350lph at 4 bar/56-58psi and the pump motor is rated to 18volts. It needed to be more robust due to going away from pulse width control to voltage stage control with a fpcm and has the integrated pressure bypass "regulator" in the hat. You could call this system a hybrid if you will mix between return and return-less. In short your doing absolutely no harm (at least that you could measure) to the coyote pump running at higher voltages with a booster. That being said older turbine and gerotor ford pumps is a different story, you do significantly increase pump wear on them, now its not an overnight thing but a stock fuel pump that would normally last 10 years+ may now only last 5 years etc as the commutator material was not designed to handle the increased heat from current when running north of their rated 13-14volts. I have seen plenty of dead pumps from older 5.0, 2v and 3v that when cut open have melted and shorted coil windings and the carbon commutator looks like dark chocolate pudding, regardless of what kenne bell's fancy tech marketing tells you, considering they had a monopoly on the market at the time with their boost-a-pumps. As a ford fuel guy with an electronics background I am not personally a pump booster fan but I would not hesitate to run one on a coyote it is an easy way to get more out of the fuel system and is way more reliable than doing it on the older stuff. My last tip is don't neglect wiring when it comes to increasing voltage and current to a fuel pump. While the plug and play options are nice and easy to install and work fine, it helps a lot to upgrade the power wire to the booster with a thicker awg wire and dedicated power source over feeding it with stock wiring. It lowers current to counter any more heat with the stepped up voltage and allows the pump to flow more. Since I haven't mentioned it fuel pumps do loose flow as heat rises, so that's a key factor. At stock voltage and 10awg wiring I have seen gains in flow around 10-12% shown by an decrease in max duty cycle in the logs and with a voltage booster and 8awg wire close to 20% increase in flow.

@lightblade543
@lightblade543 4 жыл бұрын
@@joemastrosimone9108 your SHO is a different ball game since its direct injection. The electric fuel pump in the tank is just a low pressure feeder pump to move fuel up to the high pressure mechanical pump on the engine. So boosting the electrical feeder pump will have almost no effect on overall flow since the high pressure mechanical pump has a set max displacement based on engine speed. Your limiting factor is the di style injectors. If your already installed larger di style injectors and still need more fuel. Next mod would be a larger displacement high pressure mechanical fuel pump. I believe the aftermarket has options for that now.

BAP works fine to a point, BAP won’t: make your injectors bigger, your fuel lines bigger, your regulator regulate better, it will make a pump increase the output. You will see a voltage drop under high loads. 13.5 at your alternator maybe only be 12.5V at the pump especially on older vehicles. A few volts make a huge difference

Resistance= Volts/amps, if you put MORE volts through your fuel pump, you are creating more resistance which equals more HEAT. The more heat you have the faster things tend to burn out. Boosters are going to shorten your fuel pumps life no doubt. You think companies MAKING MONEY, don't have loop holes when you blow your fucking car up because your pump burned out. No one cares how fast someone went with a boost a pump. Use at your own risk people.

So let me get this right from an electrical engineers point of view. A regular fuel pump is designed to run off of 14 volts, a booster pump does just what it says, it boosts the voltage up to around 20 volts, give or take a few causing the pump to simply run faster. Not second guessing but just looking at this from an electrical calculation. Is there something in the tune that watches the voltage, is the voltage to the fuel pump regulated some how. I know its not running at 20 volts all the time or they would not hold up period. In theory running anything higher than 14 volts to the pump over a long period of time would eventually make the pump fail. Like i said not second guessing just curious...

Its a motor size/cylinders and fuel requirement difference, a 4 cylinder needs half the pump and twice the injector to make the same power with a v8. V8 has 4 more injectors supplying fuel to motor, which also need fed by the fuel pump(s), so it needs more pump and less injector than a motor with less displacement and half the cylinders.

Of course it works. Thats not what anyone is arguing. But, pushing more Voltage to a motor is going to cause it to wear out faster. Thats not fucking rocket science. It may last for a while, but the stock pump is meant to run off the stock voltage. More power equals less longevity. Show me ONE pump thats been fed more power than it was designed for that lasted 100k miles. Im not saying its necessarily stupid to use BAPs. I will most likely install one myself if I install a blower on my LS3. But, im doing it while knowing the pump's life expectancy is going to be diminished a bit. I can only hope It isnt a catastrophic engine failure when that happens. However you can have that chance no matter what when youre messing with aftermaket fuel systems as well.

BAP's have been on the market as a tried and true solution for additional fuel delivery (to a point) for nearly 2 decades. Requirements for fuel is nothing more than some simple math. Do some reading kids. I weep for a community that needed to hear this message.

What do you think of the VMP always on style compared to the JMS one on a trigger?

It's choice really JMS makes and adjustable one, ours plugs right in and no wiring.

Actually the best JMS bap is the one that plugs into your accelerator pedal. Voltage ramps up as you depress the pedal.

Alejandro Flores I’d really like you to tune my paxton 2015 mustang. Wish I was closer to you so I could put it on a dyno. I have HP tunersloaded on it now it has a 93 octane tune only and runs good but I’d like to have a 91 and 93 octane tune from you. Only two stations in town and if I want to take my car out of state Id like to flash it to 91 and not have to worry About octane... I’m ignorant but I watch every one of your videos. I’ve learned a lot from you..Can you tune to HP tuners or do I have to have the NGuage flashed? I’d really like a tune by you. Feel helpless in Kansas no shops that are reliable

So I’ll have to buy another entire NGUAGE. Bummer...That’s why I was confused I thought if you had an NGUAGE you’d have to just flash it. I appreciate you getting back with me and talking to me. I don’t mind buying another one just to have you tune it. I took your advice and found a really nice built 2015 Mustang. Paxton NOVI 2200SL with a 3.60 pulley. Billet oil pump gears KB boost a pump I’m assuming it’s install under my back seat. Have had no time to look where they installed it looked in the trunk nothing. L...I’ve been told it’s probably installed under or near the rear seat. Or by the driver side panel. Bought it at Texas Hot rides and drove it home to Kansas here is the parts list they gave me .. paxton front mounted inter cooler, paxton air intake, Boundry Billet oil pump gears, TSS Billet crank sprocket, ID1000 injectors. Stainlessworks long tube headers, Ford racing catted midpipe ... and the KB boost a pump... the car is not starving for fuel but I bought it and it sits in my garage with 25,000 miles on it. Looks great he put a lot of mods on the outside dropped the car put tons of money on the exterior.. it’s my dream car.. but nervous about driving it without someone to look at the car. I’ll buy a Lund tuner but I got to figure out the fuel system where that pump is at. Want my tuner to have all the info about the car. Thanks in advance... Big fan of your channel... hopefully you can throw me some advice if you have time... take care
