Myths vs Facts About Donating Blood

Did you know that less than 5% of Latinos donate blood?
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we're on a mission to change that by dispelling some common myths about donating blood!
❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: Donating blood makes you gain weight.
✔️ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: It reduces blood pressure and cholesterol. (There have been studies published that show blood donors enjoy better health.)
❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You can't donate if you have tattoos. (People who received a tattoo at a state-licensed and regulated facility are eligible to donate blood once the area has healed.)
✔️ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: It can reduce the risk of heart attacks. (Being a regular donor may help with blood flow and reduce arterial blockages.)
❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You need a social security card. (You only need a photo ID.)
✔️ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: Every whole blood donation can save up to 3 lives.
❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: There's a max age limit. (You are never too old to donate blood! If you are in good health, and qualify for other eligibility guidelines, you can donate blood regardless of age.)
