Appreciate the mention of the Alberta wildfires man! Born and raised in this province so that was hard to watch. There's still a long ways to go in the affected areas but all the donations went above and beyond with the help of fighting the fires then with all the displaced people, who a great deal are back on their feet or getting there. Made my call on MT's version easy, get a great bot and donate a bit more to help my own home province. I am grabbing the MMC Grapple for a mold change between the two, I love we have options like that as collectors!

This is a great video. To be honest your vid was one of the things I used to decide between Hellfire and Backdraft so I appreciate that. I hope you do a similar review with the two Not Trailbreakers coming out. I'm really torn between them and an in-hand review would help a lot instead of just a bunch of still comparisons. I decided on Hellfire as my MP shelf representative due to overall design and cost vs Inferno (saved about $45 vs Takara). Planning on getting the Grapple from the Inferno mold unless Wrestle drops in price as well so 'Inferno' and Grapple will be similar, but still some variance. But those Trailbreakers are going to be a major bit of frustration trying to decide.

Ah that's a tough comparison to do, both really good and I almost want to merge them both together lol. I would find it really hard to decide if it was just between these two. As you say though we are pretty lucky to have so many great choices. Hope the family are doing well!!

Dito. I need the biggest one. I was convinced to go with Wrestle finally, based on Bobby's video saying between him and Hellfire, Wrestle has the best paint. So I will probably go with Takara for Inferno UNLESS Xt is way bigger and gets good reviews.

Solid review. Good stuff. It's hard to really pick and choose sometimes, and we have so many options now that it can feel a bit overwhelming when you are stuck in a tight collector's budget. You want to get the best representation of that character, but you don't have a lot of money to mess around with multiple buys/figures either. At least that's where I'm at. I think I'm going to sit back a bit longer before making my final choice. Thanks again, Mr. Skullface.

Great comparison!!! Like you said there are pros and cons with both figures and they are both good pieces. It's Damn near impossible to tell someone this wins over this. Me personally I prefer the Make Toys Hellfire but my friend likes the other one. Different beats for different meats. However before I buy either I'm going to see how the Takara version turns out.

Out of inferno, grapple or hotspot I always liked grapple. essentially all the bloody same to a degree. But this guy i feel don't get the love it deserves and seeing the g1 with these still looks great. Even the Takara is hit n miss for me. Great break down video tho mate for someone maybe torn on a purchase. You help so many with making the right choice with objective views. more videos like this in a playlist would be good. Though Im not actually collecting 3rd party figures, this is one of those times were Im questioning why I don't. Both of these looks damn amazing in both modes, and Im not even sure if I could choose one, without probably regretting why I didn't pick the other instead LOL! So Im once again happy that I've let the "official Takara Tomy MP" -restriction I've put on myself dictate which one I'll buy. But even though I only collect the Takara MP's for my display, I've recently cought myself wanting a TF that I can play with while watching TV. Just a good one that takes a while transforming and is a bit complicated, but isn't a fragile piece of mess or a big, expensive Metroplex -kind of deal... The Inferno on the left here, that looks like a good one, and at a $100 that doesn't sound too bad to me. But Im getting the Takara MP, and I don't want two of the same character in my collection :P Any suggestions for a good one that we for sure won't be getting in the Takara MP line? Like the Bay-formers? I have the movie leader class Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sentinel Prime and Starscream figures. Anything in that direction? Nothing too small though, because they're usual way too easy :P

Bobby Skullface L Why? MP-28 ain't that bad? I have both MP-09 and MP-28, and they look great as a Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime representation. But I've been thinking of starting kind of a TF MP "mirror" collection. Get one 3rd party representation of each of my offical MP's :D I've seen a very cool looking 3rd party Optimus coming up soon! That one looks dope! Might get that one and, yeah, that FT "Hot Rod" look good too!

I am a clean cut guy. I am not into the line-work design, it has what turned me off warbotron and gen toy. I think you said the fans toys wierdwolf was a little plain and I think it is on the money. It is interesting what people expect and prefer, keep up the great work!

I was looking at the pair today and have similar view points to this very video. The fanstoys one is a little bobble head and the maketoys has the thunder thighs, yet both are good. I don't think I could pick one over the other.

Maketoys Hellfire and Wrestle make a good stand-in for Earthrise toys while Mastermind Creations Backdraft and Girder are close to MP-33 and MP-35, even though Backdraft and Girder are slightly taller than the official Takara Masterpiece ones...

What's up Bobby? Great video as ever. How come you never extend Backdraft's....hand cannon tip? That sounded wrong haha. I gotta say I love BD. I've played with HF but he doesn't scratch that itch for me. My only real complaint with BD is I have stress marks on his "box" around his head where the slider is, yeeeesh quality control anyone? Being Canadian I do love what maketoys did with the proceeds from HF. That's good karma.

I think I like Maketoys Hellfire at best. Something about it just looks simple enough to transform, has that right amount of complexity that I like. Whereas with Ocular Max Backdraft, isn't too bad, honestly, I could roll with it, could mess with it a few times. All in all, just depends on which one a person likes better. Plus, if I were to pick one, think I'd prefer Maketoys at very best.

Nice. I like my MT version but I find the back wheels are never level and that frustrates me, and I snapped a piece on my Wrestle trying to forcibly level out the same problem (easily fixed). Plus I needed to pledge a couple things for the MT releases. Agreed with robot mode proportions, I passed on MMC because the robot looks awkward IMO, especially in the middle

Man I wish I could afford the Hellfire version. I really want one of these, I know hasbro is stepping up lately so hopefully I'll be able to get a a afford deluxe inferno from them eventually. Although if I had the spare cash, Hellfire would be on my shelf hands down no hesitation. The color on it is perfect all it's missing is truck numbers and reflectors. I would love to see a repo labels set made with one of the 9/11 department numbers where their members lost their lives that day to pay tribute to them. Also an American flag attachment to go on the back even if it has to clip on to the ladder would just be the icing on the cake.

I picked up a Hellfire off Ebay for 85.00 shipped as the owner was getting MP Inferno to replace him. You might see more HF's and BD's go up as inferno gets closer to release.

I don't think hellfire has a more "real world firetruck look", especially not by far. I see what you mean about the ladder but you can see obvious arms on the sides of Hellfire's truck mode like the G1 toy had. I don't think chrome diamond plating is "maybe the only thing Backdraft's truck mode did better" either. I like that the doors open so tiny figures can ride inside, the cleaner look, chrome horns on top, functional stabilizers, and tinted windows better too (some of which you mentioned right after saying the chrome plating was maybe the only better thing about Backdraft's firetruck mode). Not trying to pick at your video though, just saying my thoughts. I really liked this video. Overall very informative comparison.

I was so overwhelmed with choices that I'm just not getting one. Who the hell is this guy anyway? Bwahahahaha. Seriously though. I applaud maketoys for the donation. Definitely A+ thing to do. I still like MMC look better. Official looks too plain. Sadly I haven't liked a thing since they moved Hasui off the line. (Easy choice for me on Trailbreaker and Hoist. Rounding out my OTS collection just like Justin) :)

It's far from the only factor but it was just enough to nudge it above maketoys. I love maketoys firetruck mode.but in bot mode it just missed the mark for me. Takara Inferno is a no go due to the lack of detail at that price point. I give them credit for the engineering.

For me, MMC wins - MT is too stocky for my preference, and the face is just....scrunched and weird. Not looking forward to the Trailbreaker/Hoist battles though. Hope your wife and newborn are doing well!
