I have been using magnets for a long time in my TF bashes. They really come in handy especially with getting some type of folding transformations or parts attachments on a combiner. Plus they are easy to hide. I'm happy with my Classics Cyclonus, great mold on their part. This one is a bit too big for a Classic collection IMHO.

I'd have been on this if it hadn't been for the wrong color palette for IDW. The rest of the poor choices wouldn't have deterred me. It happens a lot lately that they make choice with their releases that end up being deal-breakers. This one has more than most and it still wouldn't have stopped me if it hadn't been for the G1 color scheme.

I'm such a big fan boy of Maketoys CD series because of hiw fun an original it is that I'd hate to lose that even if it's for more IDW. Although I wouldn't mind seeing how Maketoys would tackle an IDW line. I am happy to hear your opinion though and would like to hear what you think about Thunder Manus should you choose to get it.

That being said, I do like the IDW series for the most part because I enjoy Cybertronian vehicles more. I like the future astetic and also like how in most cases that style lends itself more to a transformation than a G1 figure would.

Michael McLaughlin ihmo make toys would make a far more refined product compared to what we get from MMC. I have a few reformatted and ocular max products and honestly for the most part they've been a disappoinment to what we get from MT and FT and even takara these days. it's not that MMC makes bad figures, but relatively to what we get these days I feel they're far behind in the materials and QC departments.

Thanks for another great review man. Can't believe people loved the Lockdown version of this mould - I hated it so much it almost put me off buying MMC again....I gave in & bought Dicamus...that didn't help lol. There's clearly been some improvements here & if I hadn't picked up jaegertron I'd probably give this a try.

Awesome review Bobby. I'm with you, I am selective about what I buy now. I'm predominantly a Masterpiece (Official & 3P), but these MMC Offerings of IDW Characters make it hard to not get them. I do think, however, that MMC needs to address the elephant in the room, where is their version of IDW Optimus?

Right now all I have preordered from MMC is their Megatron. I don't like the direction they're going. How can they put out Carnifex then a figure like Death's Head? I can't get behind this look. On a side note, I really wished Maketoys continued their IDW line. I love their Tailgate.

Such a neat figure that it got 3 repaints/Retools: Deaths Head Lockdown now Cyclonus You don't usually hear/see 3rd parties doing these type of things other than Hasbro/Takara doing it, most the time, idk if I would be impressed or what, to see this out of the other molds. I won't knock it though, from a 3rd party company such as MMC, that's for sure.

I recently bought this figure, and it's certainly not their best figure, but then they have had issues with this mould from the outset, and even though it appears they have tightened this version up it is very unMMC like. Personally I don't have any stress marks, my only issue is one of his shin guards is not glued in/doesn't stay in place well and the pink paint on one shin compared to the other is wider. Besides that the shoulders still aren't great but much improved. I like the figure but overall I don't really see G1 or IDW Cyclonus it seems that it's many different versions rolled into one, as if they just weren't sure. Great review as always Bobby

The ab has a hidden spark chamber, maybe for the transfusion for Tailgate. I would've rather seen better weapon storage in alt mode. It just kills me to see a 'MP' toy that throws away a evolutionary feature like that. Personally, MP means functionality over vague cartoon or comic references. Oh well. Good review. Thanks for the thoughts. Also- I'd love to watch a series speculating on each third party company. Where the heck is FP?!

I have great interest in a discussion video on MMC and other 3rd party companies. I know how much of a Whirl fan you are from IDW, so I found it surprising you said you cancelled the pre-order for their upcoming take on him. I do dig the use of magnets, and I agree this needs to be implemented more. I know the franchise has a history or using remolds/repaints as different characters, but at the price point involved, it is difficult to swallow a third use of a mold as a repaint when it is not on the nose, where it works for the Seekers, it just doesn't feel right as Cyclonus in this case.

I came to check out this old review because I want an IDW "More Then Meets the Eye" Cyclonus to go with my other TF from that comic book. I have MakeToys Swerve, MakeToys Tailgate, MMC Autobot Megatron is preorered, MMC Ravage is also preordered and I still need to choose between SXS or MMC Rodimus but I may end up waiting for a better version for this character. This isn't the Cyclonus I was looking for, even though it's the right size it's not the best interpretation of the character at least not in my opinion and not for who I want him displayed with. Besides the MP, which is to big, or the Hasbro with the Rearend upgrade set, which is to small, there aren't any Cyclonus that fit my bill. In fact, I can't seem to find any more good TF figures for this set, I wouldn't mind buying them in a different scale (it would sadden to get ride of MakeToys Swerve and Tailgate but If that meant having a full team I would). MP or even Legends would be good but I don't know if this characters will ever be made in the MP scale and even though Iron Factory is going for IDW TF on the Legends scale (they are doing an excellent job with those) they haven't done a single "More then Meets the Eye" character, at least none of the major ones. I agree with you Bobby, Maketoys would MakeMyDay if they got back to Manga Mech Series line and released the rest of those IDW characters with the exact some quality as they did with Swerve and Tailgate. I don't know if you will read this comment but if you do can you please help me understand if these figures I mentioned are the "chug" scaled ones? Because they are definitively on a different scale between MP and Legends. Thank you for the review.

Great review Skull Brother!!! I do like his look but stress marks that bad on new figures scare the hell out of me. I think MMC has done what a lot of companies unfortunately do. They reached the pinnacle and are one of best 3rd party companies and instead of continuing to push the envelope they decided to rest on their laurels and all of a sudden quality starts to slip. They can right the ship and need to, so fans can trust their name again. As for Make Toys I love the CD line but I wish they'd also do some IDW designs again. Just go back and forth with releases and id be really happy.

Honestly, I can't see myself ever buying or displaying this piece eve if I were given it for free. This the weakest figure I've seen from MMC. In my experience they usually nail the looks but come short with the build quality/fit and finish compared to FT or MT. But this figure doesn't even have the aesthetics going on for it :( Other than Carnifex, I haven't been impressed by anything from MMC.

Operation Saturation commencing. To me MMC is not far behind Fansproject's path falling into the niche market which is a pass for Masterpiece collectors. To each their own and I personally would like to see MMC successful however I believe Carnifex AKA Warlord is the last of the best from MMC. That being said I was and am a fan of Ocular Max I thought their Sphinx was going in the right direction and love their MP Trailbreaker.......best Trailbreaker out their period................but don't care for their Hoist at all.................doah. Come on MMC break this trend before its to late.

Agreed. As you mentioned in your review most hardcore collectors are in the drivers seat now & do not have to purchase subpar / crap. Bottom line if you have high standards & are patient ..... eventually Fans Toys / MakeToys & or Takara will address your need. Premium now overrides Qty for me personally. I'm narrow minded though .....G1 Masterpiece or go home..........the CHUG era is over.
