It's hard to escape the impression that Islam is a form of Arian heresy. In spite of Constantinople's pressure Arianism was alive and well, especially in North Africa that was still dominated by Visigoths at the time even if conquered somewhat earlier by Belisarius on behalf of emperor Justinian. Could it be that the ease with which Arab Muslims spread throughout North Africa was due to Arians of that region seeing their own beliefs in Islam and thus the liberation from the yoke of Constantinople?

@@Apkaa Although the concept of the Holy Trinity became officially the formal canon of Christianity at the Council of Nicaea in 325CE, and embedded in the Nicaean "Credo" (statement of faith), there are many statements in the Old and New Testaments that can be interpreted as suggestive of it. If you're interested, see a Wikipedia article on "Trinity" for a thorough discussion of the concept, its history, and indeed Biblical references that can be interpreted as "Trinitarian." The important point to keep in mind is that the Bible is so large, and so rich, and so ambiguous in places that you can infer from it anything you want.

Yes, yes, and yes. Add to this that both the Sassanids and the Romans made extensive use of Arab mercenaries for many centuries prior to the rise of islam, to the extent that local Arab mercenary warlords had practically taken over much of the Middle East prior to the rise of islam, and the image appears that Muhammad was nothing more than a deified local warlord used to legtimise an Arian heresy and a new empire based on Arab, rather than Persian or Roman supremacy. And, in all likelihood, much of this centered around Palestine or Jordan in its early origins, not the Hejaz.

I think the reason Mecca doesn't register as a trading centre because Westerners always view trade to be from South or East Asia to Arabia. But what I believe is that Meccan traders were involved in trading with East Africa, and I believe evidence of Meccan trade should be looked into East Africa and not other parts of Asia. When the Quraish went against Prophet Mohammed the place he took refuge to was Abyssinia, present day Ethiopia.

Muhammad's goal was the Holy Land Q5:21 which he was facing for 17/18 months before the qibla changed to Mecca. Towards the end of his life he engaged in Zionist activities to capture the Holy Land Q5:21 as shown in the Stephen Shoemaker interview - that's why the Jews thought Muhammad was the Messiah as reported in Theopanes 817AD and why someone in the Jewish community in the mid 8th century wrote in The Secrets of Rabbi Šim‘on ben Yohai "...He shall raise up over them a prophet [Muhammad] in accordance with His will, and He will subdue the land [Israel] for them; and they shall come and restore it with grandeur..."

Best explanations I’ve heard for Islam were that Christians who fled the Roman Empire settled east of the empire and were free to practice their religion. Many of the early Christians didn’t believe in the divinity of Christ. After the war the Nabateans were fired by both sides and they decided to conquer their old employers but many of those early Muslims considered themselves Christians and Jews and were considered heretics by Catholics and orthodox.

I think the understanding so far, is that Aramaic-speaking non-Trinitarian Christians converted a lot of Arabs to their fold, the Arabs gained leadership after taking advantage of the weakened empires, and they started reading the Aramaic scripture, which were more or less words written for a church sermon, but thought they were reading it in Arabic. Because its a similar language with the same wirting script. This is why in tafsirs they explain many possible explanations for certain words, its because its not an Arabic word.

It Can’t be. The language of the Quran does not represent that milieu. The Hijazi locale of the Quran remains the standard. The place of worship of the Muslims mentioned by early chroniclers is clearly described as being a place far away and isolated from the boundaries of the Roman Empire at that time. A lot of rituals and practices are mentioned in the Quran that are found in southern Arabia and Hejaz and not in northern Arabia.

Becoming secular doesn't instantly change anything, and one only needs to look towards popular public opinion (and the way it is portrayed in the media) of westerners towards the middle east and Asia to see that it is not just a "made up" phenomenon, that the west has some very dangerous views towards Islam and the middle eastern and Asian cultures.

The question you raise at 22:47 mn is right on the spot. Muhammad is indeed a Messianic title imported from the Hebraic protocols to honor affectuously the Messiah(Christ), like someone would say today "His Majesty" to address the king. Jesus being said to be the rejected Messiah(Christ), rejected by His own people the Jews and being now rejected by the Children of Ismael for being a Jew... "We want our own Arabian Messiah, our own book in our Arabian tongue, and our own qibla not Jerusalem, the Qibla for the Jews our enemies...! This is the complaint that is recurrent throughout the Reminder aka Qur'an. As we know from Deuteronomy 18:15-19, Messiah(Christ) is a Prophet like Moses. Even though on the ground Abu Quasim looks more like Moses than Jesus does. What is needed in this situation is a placeholder to step in to make the Messiah(Christ) accepted by the Arabian nation. "O you who is covered in the mantle..." or you who covers like with a mantle..." The one who covers is Abu Quasim by birth. This is the simile the Author of the surats alluded to. If there is someone called Mohammad by birth, then it would no longer be a simile as the author claimed. But If Mohammad is used as a euphemism to avoid saying "Messiah(Christ)" then the simile makes sense as a marketing plot ! And the one being marketed to the Arabs is Jesus the Messiah(Christ) announced in the Torah by Moses but rejected by his own tribe, the Jews just as the Qureish were rejecting the Gospel by rejecting their own Evangelist.

The Qur'an just calls Muhammad a Prophet and "Messenger of Allah". "How can Allah be the name of the monotheistic god if Mohommad's (PBUH) father's name was Abdullah which means servant of Allah (God), since Muhammad's father was a pagan worshipper before Islam was spread? Does that mean that Allah is a pagan name?" A very good question indeed. This was also something I was researching when I started practicing my faith. Where shall I start? let’s start with Prophet Ibrahim(pbuh) or other wise known as Abraham the father of prophets. Prophet Ibrahim(pbuh) had two sons Isaac(PBUH) and Ishmael(PBUH). The Arabs are descendants of Prophet Ibrahim(PBUH) via Ishmael(PBUH). The Jews were descendants via Isaac(PBUH). As such the Arabs knew about Prophet Ibrahim and his monotheistic God. When the Arabs started developing their own Semitic language arabic, the word they used to refer to the unseen God of Prophet Ibrahim was “Allah”. Which was why, way before Islam, Arabic speaking Christians and Jews were using the word Allah in their Arabic bible. Since Arabs and Jews have a common history via Prophet Ibrahim(PBUH), you will find that they had a lot of similar traditions too, even before Islam. Traditions such as circumcising (it’s a tradition which started from Prophet Ibrahim). Now during pre-Islamic Mecca the pagan arabs were not pagans in the sense that they were worshipping a different God. They still acknowledged the supreme unseen God Allah. As time passed, the worship of the one God alone became almost non existent among the pagan arab culture. The Arabs also attributed 3 daughter deities to the one God, quiet similar to how the Christians attributed a literal Son to the one God. They named them Al-Lat, Manat and Al-‘Uzzá and made idols of them (which was included among the 360 idols). Which was why the Prophet’s father’s name was Abdullah. But Allah corrects them in the Quran quran.com/53/19-23 So, Name Allah is means a supreme unseen good. But I will recommend you to see what is the defination of Allah in Quran. See sura Ikhlas. quran.com/112

Gospels in Old Testament are the mixture of 3 things. One, Injeel which is the word of God, two, what Jesus said and three what others saw in Jesus. It's a third party account of the above three. In Islam, Quran is the revelation from God. Hadeeth is what prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said and Seerah is the historical details of the prophet and his companions. Quran has the highest accuracy of preservation, Hadeeth is only accepted if authentic narrative is confirmed by reliable sources and Seerah is taken only at the historical context.

No conspiracy theory is necessary. The scholar admits that the Quran is quite obscure and that narrations in the sira and hadith were invented in order to make sense of the quran. Thus, the original title for Jesus in the quran, the praised one, which is also a title for Jesus in the bible, namely benedictus, was misinterpreted to mean the Muhammed of Islam. So it's not an evil conspiracy but just human error.

SAHIH INTERNATIONAL: Say, “We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him.”

You people didn't give emphasis on the very basic question. Why did christology was discussed in Quran in the first place. Jesus is not universeally accepted prophet. Most of the Jews simply rejected the idea of messiah in the form of Jesus.

Here is an explanation of the "emergence of Islam". There are periodicities and regularities happening in human historical events. Important historical events, ideas, religions and currents of thoughts last for a maximum period of two thousand years, after which they are replaced, succeeded or superseded by new, similar, more encompassing ideas and currents of thought. Anyone noticed that prophet Muhammad came almost exactly 2000 years after Moses? Muhammad can be regarded as a person analogous to Moses who came two millennia after Moses and founded a new, strictly monotheistic religion that succeeded the ancient biblical monotheistic religion and reached many more people. In any case, many Muslims and also non Muslims consider that Muhammad is very comparable with Moses among the prophets.

His name is Ahmed and Muhammed - so far I understand - means to become "ahmed" likwise Mahmud 17,79 is a higher makam - Rank. "Muhammed" as a name does not appear in the koran. The word muhammedun, muhammedin as I said is not a name. His "worldy" name was Ebu Kasim or Kasem...

Think you know Islam? Here are some choice quotes from notable mainstream Muslims of today: 1. (On child marriage) It's not rape if there's parental consent. (Daniel Haqiqatjou) 2. Islam & human rights are in 100% agreement. We only differ on who is to do the (wife) beating. (Daniel Haqiqatjou) 3. (On the Quran's perfect preservation) The standard narrative has holes in it. (Sheikh Dr Yasir Qadhi, PhD Yale) 4. (When Muslims invade, when we are strong in 40-50 years' time) We give you two good options (convert to Islam or pay the jizya tax) and live under sharia law. If you refuse, **neck slitting sounds** (Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem) (Note: This only applies to Jews and Christians. Pagans don't have the jizya tax option. They either convert or die.) 5. Yes, I do believe in miracles (like the flying donkey & moon splitting). (Mehdi Hasan, MSNBC broadcast journalist) 6. (According to the Quran, you can marry a girl) even if she's 5 years old. (Mohammed Hijab) 7. In a Muslim country, apostrophe (he means "apostasy") is dealt with with the death penalty. (Dr Muhamad Mukadam) 8. Without the death penalty for apostasy, Islam would have collapsed the day the Prophet died. (Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi) 9. Hundreds of young boys & girls aged 13 to 18 have openly declared their apostasy to me. They are hafiz, leading prayers at the masjid & engaged in madrassa. This problem is dramatic and large. They cannot talk to their parents. (Dr Asadullah Ali Al-Andalusi) 10. Nobody saw the moon split because most people were asleep at night. (Farid Responds) 11. There are various benefits for the human being in drinking camel's urine. (Dr Zakir Naik, "Medical Doctor") 12. Camel's urine contains potassium, and albuminous protein. It also contains traces of uric acid. And sodium. As well as creatine (he means "creatinine"). (Note: This is the urine composition from any animal) (Dr Zakir Naik, "Medical Doctor") As you can see, Muslims today as just as coervice, violent, destructive and nonsensical as Muslims 1400 years ago.

@Yuca Fries Agree. After the time of the Umayyads (when Abbasids took over the 'Islamic' territories), the Abbasids took away the rights of the Nazarene priests over the uneducated masses. So, no more Nazarene priests from about 760 CE. They continued being judges, however, using the Quranic (=Mosaic/Torah) sharia. But, over the following century, there was the development of Hadiths, and then the introduction of the new (Abbasid) sharia which was almost entirely based on the fictional Hadiths. There is virtually nothing of the Mosaic law in the Abbasid sharia. If the priests had continued to function, the Mosaic sharia would have remained intact and we would have access to some real history. Of course, the Islam would have been almost identical to Judaism (plus 'Isa bin Maryam as the Messenger of Allah).

@@krisc3371 The Umayyads built the Dome of the Rock - Grand Temple on the Temple Mount. This was their Kaaba. This Kaaba in Jerusalem (Dome of the Rock) has inscriptions explaining that Jesus was "Muhammad", the "praised one". The sacrifices and rituals were handled by the Nazarene priests. Read the works of Amikam Elad (the Hebrew University of Jerusalem) for more information on the Temple Mount priests. Abd-Allah ibn al-Zubayr tried to re-establish the rival Kaaba at Makkah (Petra) , but was killed by the Umayyads. When Abbasids started ruling, they developed new ideas. Now the religion shed the priests, shed Jesus as the lead character, shed any role for the priests in handling the pilgrims' sacrifices. Abbasids, keen to erase Umayyads, would have moved the Kaaba (from Jerusalem) to Makkah (Petra) c. 760 CE. Then the Kaaba moved again c. 800 CE: from Makkah (Petra) to Makkah (Saudi).

Muhammad's goal was the Holy Land Q5:21 which he was facing for 17/18 months before the qibla changed to Mecca. Towards the end of his life he engaged in Zionist activities to capture the Holy Land Q5:21 - as shown in the Stephen Shoemaker interview - as some Jews thought Muhammad was the Messiah as reported in Theopanes 817AD. When he failed to capture it, his attempt was edited out of biographies as this would invalidate him being the Messaih and he was seen just as a Prophet sent to the Arabs as shown by someone in the Jewish community in the mid 8th century who wrote in The Secrets of Rabbi Šim‘on ben Yohai "...He shall raise up over them a prophet [Muhammad] in accordance with His will, and He [God] will subdue the land [Israel] for them; and they shall come and restore it with grandeur..."

Another great scholar on this great channel. As an "ultra-revisionist" myself, close to the Inarâh Institute that Dr. Reynolds mentioned, I would like to point out that the historical existence of a man who was nicknamed Muhammad is not in doubt. The question is not there but on the actual role that this Muhammad played. Was he the "prophet of Islam"? Did he reveal the Koran? I believe he was a Christian Arab connected to a Jewish sect that preached the imminent coming of the end times and the return of Jesus - and since he did not return (and since Muhammad died), his Judeo-Christian teaching evolved into Islam. The return of Jesus was postponed to another end time, and Islam emerged from its Judeo-Christian background as the religion of the new caliphal empire, as a utilitarian form of religion so as to form the backbone of the empire (like every empire) and to give legitimicay to the divine power claimed by the caliphs.

@@Zarghaam12 Before calling others goofy... You are not an Arabic-speaking person. You are from Afghanstan. In the 7th-8th century Arabic, whatever writings we have (including Quran), a person's NAME is written followed by the patronymic. That is, BIN something or the other. For example, Quran mentions: 'Isa BIN Maryam, etc. But the word MUHAMMAD does not have a patronymic. This means, MUHAMMAD of the Quran was not a NAME, but a TITLE. It was only during the Abbasid times did the non-Arab writers ADDED a patronymic for this person. So the expression became Muhammad BIN ABDULLAH. Learn some Quranic Arabic and then prove me wrong.

There is no doubt that anachronistic « sources » provide lots of evidence of a man for which there is basically zero historicity. If you start from the assumption that the man existed, there’s no room for other conclusions. I’ve never seen a single piece of evidence that is contemporary with the so-called prophet of Islam

@@vicmath1005 you are not an Arabic-speaking person, you're from California. "But the word MUHAMMAD does not have a patronymic. This means, MUHAMMAD of the Quran was not a NAME, but a TITLE." "Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those with him are firm with the disbelievers and compassionate with one another......." - Qur'an, Surah 48:29 That verse alone completely throws that out of the park. The Quranic title for Muhammad is "Messenger of Allah" and it is the most common term used to reference him, not only in the Quran but in Hadith as well. In the minimal direct references of his name, the Qur'an never once indicates that "Muhammad" is a title. Mecca was not Petra, that is a comedic fable from Tom Holland.

The level of detail and cohesion within the corpus of Early Islamic history makes it almost impossible to be made up from nothing. It's unfortunate that some Western academics can't think systemically. They have to compartmentalise Just the Qur'an, just tye hadith, just the seerah, just the history books.. And Muslims can only scream- "look at all of them together you idiot . What's wrong with you?"

The idea that mecca was the center of trade was true. The critical question is by whom? Many people erroneously assumed it is the center of trade of all people but it is not. Mecca is only the center of trade among the arabs because of the pilgrimage. Arabs converged in mecca for both pilgrimage and trade

End times is not understood in Islam as iminent. Hadeeth provides the details of events happening before the day of judgement. So without hadeeth there are so many things that won't make sense. So for example Quran talks about prayers but not the exact times, the procedure etc. So hadeeth and seerah is absolutely essential to understand Islam. Also we can't use implicit verses to reach a conclusion, Christians do that but it's not done in Islam.
