I’m back to hauling 53’s after pulling 28’s, I passed my road test but the backing alley got me nervous af, took me about 20 minutes to do, I didn’t hit anything and passed. Looking at this videos makes me feel more comfortable into backing 53’s again

Thx for your efforts, however, this is the worse way to do blind side. The best way is to make sure you have enough space. Right after passing one trailer, you make a hard left. That will allow you to position yourself in a way, so you can just do a straight line backing into the space. Thx

In my 18 months or so of driving I've done maybe a dozen blindsides because that was the only option available. Yes I'd do a dozen or so GOALS. I've had some get impatient and start honking because I'm creeping along several feet at a time. And I've had others help ground guide. Pucker factor was a 10 but I've not hit shit yet.(knock on wood). There's the super trucks that it's all about them, but there are quite a bit who will help ground guide which is decent of them. They may break my balls a bit while helping but thats fine by me. I thank them and go about my business.
@Fetidaf2 жыл бұрын
I drove for about 3 years and I think I’ve done one blindside, and I did another just because I wasn’t sure I could go down the road to turn around and decided to try it. 40 minutes later I decided to check out Google maps and found a place to just turn around lol

@MyTruckingSkills5 жыл бұрын
It comes in handy too if you are taking a tight right hand turn and you want to make sure you are not hitting anything because it always looks like you are going to hit something in that tiny right mirror
@skydivingisfun5 жыл бұрын
@@MyTruckingSkills that it does. 3+ years of driving never thought of that window. For tight right hand I either button hook snd/or jug handle if needed. I actually have done goal on a tight right hand lol. Worst back was the pilot on state highway 140?(I think) outside memphis tn. 90 degree blind side into a slanted spot with maybe 4 inches on either side of trailer and almost no room upfront.
@MyTruckingSkills5 жыл бұрын
It took me 12 years before I discovered that window. I used normally have the curtain closed but one day I had it open and when I was making a tight turn out of a dock I happened to look over my shoulder, and low and behold I could see the trailer and the truck next to me!!! Mind blown!!!
@skydivingisfun5 жыл бұрын
@@MyTruckingSkills is it a good view or just partial? But hey in a blind side some xtra view is better then no view.
@MyTruckingSkills5 жыл бұрын
It all depends on you truck, very little with cascadia, lots with international. My fridge is blocking my view now so I can't see anything 😭
@AdamGbl955 жыл бұрын
A cheating way is to turn your right mirror so you can see your tandems and trailer tail until you cant turn it anymore.... it helps a lot. Just turn the mirror while your angle gets sharper.

There is a dock in New Jersey that you're forced to blind side back into a single dock that is recessed in the building. There is also a fence in front of the dock so you can't pull straight out. You have to dock with the truck pointed to the side. I had to spot my co driver the first time we were there. The second time I was driving. He didn't see I was going to hit the corner of the building and didn't stop me from bumping it. I'm still frustrated about it. Customer didn't care but I did.
