my dad owned a pool hall in East LA off of whittier blvd and Atlantic from 1979 to 2007. It was called Borjas Pool Room. So many cool memories of East LA, like Jim's Burgers!

I used to live in Whittier with my family, but I moved to Las Vegas with my boyfriend (also from Whittier, we meet at Whittier high school 🥰). We are definitely going to take a road trip to Whittier. I know this place isn't on whittier blvd, it's actually on Beverly blvd, and it's Frumentos Italian market and deli. It's also a place that has been in Montebello for about 70 years. Wonderful place!

Their Pastrami’s are WAYYY BETTER than the Hat! Great Chili Burgers and Chili Dogs! They started out on 3rd Street in 1945 two blocks away from my Fathers childhood home. Then they moved to Whittier and Eastern for a short time. Love that place!!! 🥰🌭🥰

I live in Pico, near Tommy's and Marios Tacos. I've eaten at every place you showed on this video, except Chronis. I'm excited to try it. Super Taco is good too. The owners live next door to my granddaughters house. Nice folks. I use to work next to Super Taco, at the corner building. I believe it's a hair accessory place now. It use to be Major Video, and then Blockbuster bought it out.. that was in the late 80's. Have you been to Casa Garcia, in Pico Rivera? Best Nachos and Chimichanga ever.. mmmmm

Looking forward to Whittier High 50 reunion next year. Moved to Austin 17 years ago but moved down to South Padre Island 5 years ago. Love your program as I was born in ELA and lived there in the 80’s. In high school and later we cruised Whittier blvd and made a u turn at the 605 freeway where the low riders would also turn to head back to the east side. The food in Pico, Montebello and ELA was great. Hope to meet you next year.

I knew as soon as you said you were headed to East Los Angeles that you would be going to Chronies! I used to live two blocks away from there as a child and remember walking there all the time to get the chili dog! Snapped every time you bit into it! Moved to Montebello, and their chili cheese fries were and still are the best!!

I always enjoy watching something about Whittier and Whittier blvd. I lived in Whittier from 1968 to 1992, and I went to Mulberry, Hillview, and graduated from Calhi. But the Whittier of today is not as nice as the Whittier I grew up in and it saddens me . On a trivia note concerning Whittier Blvd, there was a time when cruising was happening from East L.A., all the way to the city of Whittier. In Whittier, it was mainly Hot Rods and Muscle Cars and it would get packed. Another trivia note about Whittier blvd is that before the interstate system, Whittier Blvd was U.S. highway 101. Where Whittier Blvd hits Harbor Blvd, you would right onto Harbor to continue on U.S. 101, until you got to Newport, then it would turn to the coast, and continue on until you hit the border town of San Ysidro. Also, there used to be a "redlight district" on Whittier Blvd, between Norwalk Blvd and the 605.

I agree, Whittier is definitely not what it used to be. I'm in E. Whittier and at times, I seriously consider leaving. Luckily, in my quiet neighborhood, it's still okay. There's always bad stuff going on at the Whittwood Towne Center. It's really cool to view these videos. I graduated from CalHi in 86'!

Chronis was great Oh about 30 - 40 year's ago... Ron sold it about 15 years ago and I don't think it's the same. It was a spot my Dad took Us their on Sundays , but I think it's ok but there's definitely Better out Their.
