Nope. It got twisted from the word go. It s lobola first then ama gifts. If u bring ma gift who r u bringin these to because uyi girlfriend. Lobola doesnt make u a full wife though; u r almost almost there. What determines the wife is ukuthelwa ngenyongo, that is when u r officially introduced to the ancestors when u sprinkled by a bile yasemzini. U can get lobolad and exchange gifts and mayb wear a white gown and have a party, u r stil not a wife traditionally, the bile is the defining factor.
