I am an Australian who watched the press stand where the local Latinos described what had been happening to them. To think an 80+ Grandmother was humiliated in that way. To be made to stand outside her home in her nightgown while they invaded her house. Truly outrageous. The TX maga legislature forgets that Texas belonged to Spain, 1519 to 1821. They are born in Texas and have the right to vote. I hate that they are being persecuted. I'm a lifelong resident of North Carolina (I'll be 72 on 8/30) and I wanted to thank you, Maryann, for your reading on North Carolina in this election cycle. As you said, there's skullduggery afoot as the Republicans try any means to keep their control and reduce the power of Democrats at every level. Even though we're a purple state, the Republicans in our legislature have a super majority (which means they can override the Democratic Governor's veto) through gerrymandering and the defection of an elected Democrat switching to the Republicans. They also have a majority on the North Carolina Supreme Court and for no cause or precedent other than to do their Republican cohorts in the legislature's bidding, they threw out the balanced district apportionment under the previous Supreme Court which had ruled the Republicans' map as unfair. That apportionment used only for the 2022 election had been divided evenly between Republican and Democratic districts. But since the US Supreme Court has refused to disallow overt political gerrymandering, the new Republican dominated NC court agreed to hear the legislature's case and allow new redistricting. The result is that three Democrats' districts for the US Congress were no longer winnable and they decided not to run for re-election which will mean three less Democrats in the US House of Representatives. The districts for the North Carolina legislature are also gerrymandered which keeps these Republicans in charge. They have worked to reduce the power of the governor, interfered in local administrations that are run by Democrats, changed the makeup of local commissions and election boards, to name a few of their plans for seeking total control. Even the son of the leader of the NC Senate sits on the Supreme Court and the court refuses to recuse him from cases in which his father is directly involved. Short of a change in the composition of the federal Supreme Court or a law passed by the US Congress outlawing political gerrymandering, it's hard to see a recourse. (It's true that Democrats also took advantage of political gerrymandering when they used to be in power - it's an unfair system.) This election is critical to keeping the governor and attorney general in Democratic hands and electing as many Democrats as possible to thwart some of the very extreme MAGA people in the legislature and running for state offices. We have hope that NC can go blue for Kamala Harris, but our state is locked into Republican control, which is becoming more and more autocratic, for cycles to come. I never in a million years ever thought Mormons would vote blue, having said that the churches are not supposed to support a political party. I was hoping the Catholic Church would go back to their roots and vote blue for social justice after the fall of roe v wade but no such luck. I think we need to tax the churches.

That's actually untrue. The leadership is strictly neutral and only advises members to vote for candidates who are honest and demonstrate good character. We don't speak politics during services as it is divisive. However, I myself can see through the lies, manipulations and bad character of DJT.

As a member of said church, I know that members have voted for the (R) because of the abortion issue but have not heard of any leaders telling us who to vote for. We do have the younger generation in Utah that has a sign that says, "Mormons for Harris." I am confused as to why they are using the term, "Mormon" because that word is a slur against us. I few years ago, the President of the church told us to not use that term but to call ourselves, members of the Church of Latter Day Saints. I haven't been to church since 2020 but still haven't heard any leaders or members tell us who to vote for.

Thank you Maryann! I'm in North Carolina and it's a scary place to be. The most dangerous red states in the USA are Texas, Florida, and North Carolina. South Carolina is no picnic either. One of the ways I have pushed back quietly is to join and send funds annually to the NAACP of NC, because they are engaged in a year round fight for voter rights and against gerrymandering in NC. NC is where many of the early civil rights protests took place. The International Civil Rights Museum is 30 minutes from my house. Wherever there is a history of intensive slavery, slave plantations, and current day large populations of black and brown people, there is ongoing gerrymandering and the desire to turn back time and oppress people's freedom. There are so many ways that the Jim Crowe era behavior is trying to come back and the MAGA crowd is behind it. Listening to you is like a therapy session. Love and hugs and big respect to you!!!

[Robert Kennedy Sr. was a Scorpio and therefore a Water Sign.] I just watched Harris and Walz visiting an-out-of-the-way high school in Georgia as part of their campaign tour to include the usually politically ignored parts of the nation. The band played for them and Harris responded with a beautiful calm speech reminding them how important it is for them to remember that they are important parts of a whole no matter what anyone else tells them otherwise. i have never in my nearly 70 years witnessed a campaign like this Harris/Walz one; the palpable Presence of Truth and Beauty guides EVERYTHING they do. I LOVE your readings Maryanne (sp? forgive me!!). You disprove the notion that Politics cannot be Soulcraft as the ever-wise Pete Buttigieg has termed it CAN indeed be. Carry on!

The school is in Hinesville, GA and there is a large military population in that area. I have been there - friends of ours were stationed at Fort Stewart several years ago. Low income area for the most part. I love how she speaks to our youth. Very positive and loving. Pete Buttigieg was mayor of my neighboring city of South Bend, IN and he is an amazing human as well. My sister met he and Chasten and their kids just by chance last summer in Michigan. She and her daughter were eating lunch outside at a cafe and she said this man walked up and asked if they could share their table. She said of course and he and the kids sat down. A few minutes later, along comes Pete and sits with his family. My sister knew who he was immediately and asked if he was “Mayor Pete”. She was so star struck she failed to get a photo with him/them. I was so envious of her encounter!! Awesome people in that ticket for sure! ❤

You know there’s actually a law with no statute of limitations that has been broken repeatedly, both in American law and international law that we could get a lot of people with multiple laws that they are refusing to prosecute that would be proven with public knowledge without even doing that hard of a search There is for the time during the war in Iraq anytime between the start of the war and pulling out all the things they did for manipulating the housing market, any type of Increase beyond necessary prices is a crime it’s called profit in time of war and that is treason in America so everybody who made record profits during that time is a war profiteer and committed treason against America and in addition to that so all the price gouging there is another law called piracy so Trump stealing from all the small businesses rape could be piracy because slavery is one of the things that’s part of piracy so using your body against your will so if someone rapes someone they are guilty of piracy under international law, both piracy and treason are death penalty offenses and piracy. You can’t just leave the United States and get away with it, and go to a non-extradition treaty country. There is no jurisdiction that is out of the jurisdiction of piracy. The Nazis were deemed pirates and we got people who admit to being Nazis. We need to start trying them as Nazis as part of the whole criminal organization as pirates, and all Nazis are guilty of the crimes of any of the Nazis, and try them as Pirates even a chef or anyone who is on a pirate ship unless they are literally a slave in the case they are the victim of the pirates they are guilty of the crimes even if they don’t go everyone at the capital is guilty of felony murder because say six people start planning theft at a gas station. Two of them aren’t actually going to do the crime. One of them gets them the car another one tells them the way around in the store cause they went to that gas station, but they’re not actually part of the actual theft, actual robbery then, there’s two people we in the car and two people go in one is the lookout. The other is the getaway driver to go in with guns to rob the gas station. The person behind the counter shoots one of them and kills them. The other one gets away, and they all get caught because they can find out who they are from that dead person who has ties and they found all the information, they didn’t get any money and they didn’t hurt anybody, but one of the criminals in the conspiracy died. Everybody who tried to rob that gas station is not only guilty of the conspiracy for the robbery, but they are also guilty of a crime called felony murder in a conspiracy to commit. A felony involved is guilty of felony murder. When one person dies, they could die, tripping over a rake and falling on something sharp that punctures their heart in an accident and it is felony murder, even if it’s one of your people so the police officers that were killed all the people who died of heart attacks there was at least five people who died at the capital January 6 and there was a bunch more that died since Ashley Babbitt, someone they could charge her death on everybody who was at the capital and by the way murder of any sort has no statute of limitations so even if they didn’t charge them with any crime yet they can charge them with it as soon as we have someone with the balls to do it there is no statute of limitations treason profit in time of war there is no statute of limitations on piracy all these crimes that the entire Republican party even Donald Trump can be charged with anytime and even with the Supreme Court whole argument there is no immune information in anything to do with the January 6 insurrection because it is to do with an election anything to do with an election is not official business of the president whenever they are doing things to do with the election whenever they are campaigning, it is not a official act no matter where they are or who they’re talking to if it has to do with the election, it is exempted from being an official act, you cannot use official campaign. You can mention official access campaign, but they are not campaigning. They have to be separate. So anything to do with stormy Daniels is not an official act anything to do with the money not an official act no matter what it was no matter whether it was at the White House no matter if it was talking to someone at the White House whether they were Stafford that Actual conversation you might be exempted before and after what you were talking about to lead up to it, but the actual conversation is not an official act so they just cut out. She was called up to the president’s office, but the actual conversation is not a official act as campaign related. It cannot be an official act. That is the law. If it’s on the White House Ground it’s not necessarily an official act if it’s a campaign speech, even if he’s talking to, but it becomes a campaign speech it’s about the campaign. It is no longer in official act, fair game

It makes me so angry how some want to subvert the law . I’m so thankful to live in Colorado. We vote by mail . We have for years . No issues. I get a notification on my phone when they receive it and when it’s counted.

I'm in Colorado, too. Colorado does makes it easy and convenient to register and vote. We can register to vote on line or at most State offices, like the DMV. I receive my ballot in the mail and drop it off at the Rec Center drop box just a few blocks from home. In 2020 we did have some shady activity with the Post Master General, Louis DeJoy disassembling new and expensive sorting machines in Denver just prior to the voting. Most people here do mail-in voting and he attempted to delay the ballots from being counted. And Tina Rogers and Jena Ellis also pulled their shenanigans, but both of them are facing the consequences, now. However. we still have Lauren Boebert to contend with. Hope my district neighbors want nothing more to do with her, either, when they vote in the coming election.

Elias firm has filed on behalf of the North Carolina Asian Americans Together and El Pueblo - to intervene to fight against the RNC lastest voter suppression lawsuit. Also our Gov Roy Cooper has been fighting against the Gerrymandering in court since 2016 _ I am so sad his term is up. Yesterday Gov and VP Nominee Tim Walz was in NC with Gov Roy Cooper - so happy for that
