"To the Fathers of Men of the three faithful houses rich reward also was given. Eönwe came among them and taught them; and they were given wisdom and power and life more enduring than any others of mortal race have possessed. A land was made for the Edain to dwell in, neither part of Middle-earth nor of Valinor, for it was sundered from either by a wide sea; yet it was nearer to Valinor. It was raised by Ossë out of the depths of the Great Water, and it was established by Aulë and enriched by Yavanna; and the Eldar brought thither flowers and fountains out of Tol Eressëa. That land the Valar called Andor, the Land of Gift; and the Star of Eärendil shone bright in the West as a token that all was made ready, and as a guide over the sea; and Men marvelled to see that silver flame in the paths of the Sun."

This is beautiful. Is this on your Spotify? I didn't see 'Numenor' in any of the song titles. Is it called something else?

I hope that Numenor doesn't refer to ridiculous Numenor from Amazon series Rings of Power, which is the worse thing that ever happened to Tolkien's legacy
@Stoicism1989Ай бұрын
Why? I am asking, because I liked the series from Amazon. Perhaps, it is because I have never read the books. But, my question is what exactly you didn't like about Numenor from the series?

@@Stoicism1989 (Answering for myself and not on behalf of @Discovery_Nuggets) The writing, the portrayal of the characters and the misrepresentation of the culture upon which Tolkien built his world. I stopped watching after the middle of season 1. I was lucky to make it that far. I know you specifically asked about Numenor, but the Amazon series is a masterclass in how to ruin the legacy and destroy the purity of a world, that OUR modern world cannot handle. Culture and intent should be respected and not demonized or changed, to appease those who look for ways to make themselves appear virtuous.

I have read the books, and as an interpretation and adaptation brought to life by Amazon productions, I thought the series was/is wonderful. Yes, are there things I would do differently, sure. But altogether it was beautiful and they kept the same Peter Jackson element alive

I agree, this was awful. The dúnadan civilisation at the peak of its power looks a lot less advanced than Gondor at its lowest. “The sea is always right” is the worst line of all the series alongside “Grand-Elf”. As for the city, they have made an absurd cramped mixture between Romena and Armenelos that looks like neither as they were described by Tolkien. Miriel's non-coronation looked like a village election when it should have been 100 times bigger than Aragorn’s in Minas Tirith. And the “army” sent to the “Southlands” was a scouting team absurdly leaded by an absolutely inexperienced queen. A Numenorean army at that stage in history should have been overwhelmingly larger than all the orcs in Mordor. As Imrahil stated in the Return of the King, it is ironic that we are going to attack Mordor with a force that would have been just the vanguard of Gondor in other times. And the politics is so wrong, Amazon's agenda is so weird that Miriel will not loose the throne because Pharazon forces her to marry him, instead an eagle is used by him and the over a century old people are manipulated into “voting” her out. And 50 screamers get to decide he is the new king. All because apparently now we cannot show in TV something bad happening to a woman of power. The only thing I have liked about Númenor is Elendil's character depiction, as a man of principle, courage, faith and kindness. And Narsil of course.
