Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope this translates well. I used to listen to nanguan songs forty years ago when I worked long hotel night shifts in San Francisco. The sound was strange to me at first, but something deep within them called to me. I kept listening and grew to love them. I do not always understand the words, but I understand the heart. . I have tears in my eyes right at this moment. My aging heart is forever grateful.

+Alan Hill Could you remember which hotel in San Francisco? I am keen to find out any nanyin groups in SF. Victor

+Victor Yue I am so sorry I didn't write more specifically. They were tapes and recordings I bought at a nearby Chinese bookstore. I believe it was called the EastWind Bookstore, or something like that. I would play them all night long into the morning's embrace. They meant a lot to me. I never heard any live performances. Even in S.F. Chinatown. I hope with all my heart you are fortunate in finding practicing performers.

Totally agree. Nan Guan is, yes not was, such a kind of stress-off music nowadays. Even though we don't know what that mean. It's not even a problem. My Nan Guan teachers used to have told us, that you must be careful with your own soul to keep Nan Guan's spirit. It's not about words. Not at all. That's why foreigners are easier than us Chinese the best fans ever. The fact is, that word is not the important thing in Nan Guan. It's like the art of Chinese Painting. It's like Chinese character. The beauty is in the Chinese character itself. Same here in the art of the best thing about music. Nan Guan is the best of the most beautiful art because of the purchase of the souls of art itself.

Jeff Hsieh 謝謝您!過獎了!台灣南管國寶蔡小月女士以及我的恩師王心心女士都演唱得非常棒,建議您可以找她們兩位的錄音出版品來欣賞!
[山險峻]詞在 - 泉州南音 - 謝曉雪唱。不知是否一樣?I' m just passing through. The song was about someone suffered political persecution by a bad guy called Mau Yian-Sou, and caused family separated. He has no way of knowing where were his parents, he would like to see his mother and brothers before he died. He was traveling in the steep mountain path ....etc. If someone is interested, I can try to translate the content in my poor English. Yes, it's a sad story. But, as a gentleman said, the content is probably not important, you listen with your heart. You were probably a Chinese in your previous life.

南音應該是唐朝宫廷樂奏,是皇帝閒時聽賞的,唐朝宫廷有可能是說閩南話的。

一堆小粉紅以為閩南語是福建方言,其實北京話才是方言,閩南語更具有統治的法理道統

唐朝時期就是講閩南話啊!

如果能將詞文顯示出來就更完美了 畢竟大部分的人不懂古漢文

She was traveling near Great Wall - Yianmen Guan (Gate to North of China.)
Jeff Hsieh 我應該是隨著音樂線條本身的高低起伏,自然而然地演唱出來的,並未刻意做什麼處理。

Jeng Johnnie The contents of lyrics are not so important for Nan-Guan music cause when we sing we just focus on how to pronounce the syllables, one word is separately pronounced to interpret the musical phrases! So I would like to say that Nan-Guan music is "absolute music" and it's not just vocal music..we treat the voice part as another instrument part so when we perform the kind of Nan-Guan ensemble music,It's quintet not vocal quartet!Thank you for listening to my recordings
