Hi there, I am a HKer in my early 60's living in Sydney Australia. I am planning to retire in a few years and backpacking solo the whole South America as it is the only continent I have never been. How easy, risky and expensive if I want to backpack in SA in a shoe string for maybe a year or so ? Are you doing the same thing by any chance ?

You can rent a place and eat in South America for 20 USD per day. So long as you don't carry valuables on you, I think it's safe. If anyone mugs you, don't resist . I'm now in Hong Kong, as you can see from my very latest video, I take my daughter on holiday with me when I have time.
Yup, from other youtube videos, I saw a nice steak which costs about usd10 at a fancy restaurant, and a steak meal costs about usd2.5 at the shopping mall food courts.

@@maxhope7691 ten dollars is a great price. I just ate a T-bone steak for 28 dollars purchased from the local grocery store. I cooked it myself on a grill.

I really didn't see any steaks in restaurants. I'm talking about South America in general, not specifically Argentina. I didn't go to Buenos Aires, maybe this could be the reason. Maybe these restaurants are located somewhere out of town?
