thank you so much for sharing, monkey styles are very rare, nowerdays you only see those modern wushu forms. may I ask... this is another style than iron monkey (鐵猴門) or great sage (大聖門)?

No, this belongs to Southern Shaolin Style, and which is south of Chanjiang(Yangtze), is not Lingnan嶺南.

Li sifu,actor,choreographer and master of hung ga,lau ga leung,also has monkey fist kung fu I've never seen in any other similar style,wouldn't it be lau ga's own monkey fist?

@@luisantonio2034Master Lau Ga Leung is a real Kung Fu actor and action choreographer, but i don’t where did he learn his monkey fist from. In my knowledge, the full set of Monkey fist of Hung Gar is only in 小五形拳，which means each kind of style in this routine, only has one section. On the other hand, the content of 南猴拳is a complete set, which is almost included all the money style techniques. Therefore this南猴拳is contained all kinds of techniques of Monkey fist of Hung Gar.

This is a kind of similar to the question of eggs and chickens which is the first. I would say all of our Hung Gar is from Hong Kong, actually Hung Gar was from Guangdong and Fujian to Hong Kong mainly in after about 1920s. There was many reasons, the one that is because of the tradition ideology of Chinese people, if you have ability, leaving their home village to the town to develop their own career, such as our idiom “to come back to one's hometown in silken robes”. Every famous styles of martial arts are passed and developed as this way. And because of the environment, the traditional martial arts culture can be avoided the Cultural Revolution, that let us can maintain many wealth of treasures of routines. Between the village and town, let me try to give an example, last Qing dynasty, Yang style Taiji, which was passed by Grand Master Yang Lu Dan 楊露襌, who learned from his master in his Sifu in Chen jigou 陳家溝, and then he left from village Chen Jigou to Bei Jing. There was another kinds of style experts, such as Bagua Master Dong Hai Chuan董海川, Eagle Claw Master Lau Shi Jui劉仕俊and also faced to teach different physique students in the prince’s mansion, so that inspired Grandmaster Yang to change the way of the movements to form the style. we also can see the way Chen styles Taiji of Master Chen Fa Ke(陳發科1887-1957) have some different to the way in the village, which is also because of in the town, can expand their horizons. However the experts also came back home village from the town, such as Eagle Claw Grand Master Lau who is the previously mentioned, and then his disciple’s disciple Master Chen Zi Zheng left his home village to develop his career, and became a very famous and great master, was also given a name of King of Eagle Claw.
