It is so heartbreaking to see that people are suffering and losing their daily normal life they used to. I really hope that JPN govt provide them with new places to live and start new life. Its too dangerous to live in potential disaster again. Time to move on.

Japan is like California in the US. Always earthquakes there. Japan is a volcanic island archipelago that sits where four tectonic plates converge. The lands of the Noto Peninsula where this 7.6 tremblor hit New years Day, are mountainous. Further inland in that area of western Japan(Hokuriku) are what's known as the Japanese Alps where many go to ski resorts . There are many hot springs areas wth onsen resorts as well. 1998 Winter Olympics were in Nagano. Just a few months from March 11. 13 years since that devastating 9.1 earthquake and tsunami tore up the Tohoku region. They are still working on THOSE repairs. It is what it is. Those in Tokyo felt minor shaking if any. Earthquakes are highly regional. The further from the epicenter, the less damage and sensitivity is felt to where many feel no negligible impact at all.

@@Og-Judy so what you are saying is ppl will stay and rebuilding there rather than migrating into different regions?
