യെശയ്യാ 58:1 ഉറക്കെ വിളിക്ക; അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കരുതു; കാഹളംപോലെ നിന്റെ ശബ്ദം ഉയർ‍ത്തി, എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു അവരുടെ ലംഘനത്തെയും യാക്കോബ് ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു അവരുടെ പാപങ്ങളെയും അറിയിക്ക. 58:4 നിങ്ങൾ വിവാദത്തിന്നും കലഹത്തിന്നും ക്രൂരമുഷ്ടികൊണ്ടു അടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നോമ്പു നോല്ക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാർ‍ത്ഥന ഉയരത്തിൽ കേൾപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണമല്ല നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്നു നോമ്പു നോല്ക്കുന്നതു. 58:5 എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള നോമ്പും മനുഷ്യൻ ആത്മതപനം ചെയ്യുന്ന ദിവസവും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളതോ? തലയെ വേഴത്തെപ്പോലെ കുനിയിക്കുക, രട്ടും വെണ്ണീരും വിരിച്ചു കിടക്കുക, ഇതാകുന്നുവോ ഉപവാസം? ഇതിന്നോ നീ നോമ്പെന്നും യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമുള്ള ദിവസമെന്നും പേർ‍ പറയുന്നതു? 58:6 അന്യായബന്ധനങ്ങളെ അഴിക്കുക; നുകത്തിന്റെ അമിക്കയറുകളെ അഴിക്കുക; പീഡിതരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരായി വിട്ടയക്ക; എല്ലാനുകത്തെയും തകർ‍ക്കുക; ഇതല്ലയോ എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള ഉപവാസം? 58:7 വിശപ്പുള്ളവന്നു നിന്റെ അപ്പം നുറുക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതും അലഞ്ഞുനടക്കുന്ന സാധുക്കളെ നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ചേർത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നതും നഗ്നനെ കണ്ടാൽ അവനെ ഉടുപ്പിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ മാംസരക്തങ്ങളായിരിക്കുന്നവർ‍ക്കു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ മറെക്കാതെയിരിക്കുന്നതും അല്ലയോ? 58:8 അപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ഉഷസ്സുപോലെ പ്രകാശിക്കും; നിന്റെ മുറിവുകൾക്കു വേഗത്തിൽ പൊറുതിവരും; നിന്റെ നീതി നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കും; യഹോവയുടെ മഹത്വം നിന്റെ പിമ്പട ആയിരിക്കും. 58:9 അപ്പോൾ നീ വിളിക്കും; യഹോവ ഉത്തരം അരുളും; നീ നിലവിളിക്കും, ഞാൻ വരുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യും; നുകവും വിരൽ ചൂണ്ടുന്നതും വഷളത്വം സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും നീ നിന്റെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളകയും 58:10 വിശപ്പുള്ളവനോടു നീ താല്പര്യം കാണിക്കയും കഷ്ടത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവന്നു തൃപ്തിവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുമെങ്കിൽ നിന്റെ പ്രകാശം ഇരുളിൽ ഉദിക്കും; നിന്റെ അന്ധകാരം മദ്ധ്യാഹ്നം പോലെയാകും.
