জাবাল আল-হিরা একটি পাহাড় যা কাবা থেকে প্রায় দুই মাইল দূরে অবস্থিত। চূড়ার কাছে একটি ছোট গুহা রয়েছে যা হেরা গুহা (আরবি: غار حراء) নামে পরিচিত, যার দৈর্ঘ্য 4 মিটারের একটু কম এবং প্রস্থে 1.5 মিটারের একটু বেশি। এখানেই রমজান মাসে নবী মুহাম্মাদ (সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) পবিত্র কুরআনের প্রথম ওহী পেয়েছিলেন। রাসূলুল্লাহ (ﷺ) গুহা থেকে পালিয়ে এসেছিলেন এবং যখন তিনি পাহাড়ের ঢালে অর্ধেক নেমেছিলেন তখন তিনি তাঁর উপরে একটি আওয়াজ শুনতে পান। বলেছেন: “হে মুহাম্মাদ, আপনি আল্লাহর রসূল এবং আমি জিবরাঈল (আঃ)”। নবী (ﷺ) ফেরেশতার দিকে তাকিয়ে রইলেন; তারপর সে তার কাছ থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিল, কিন্তু সে যে দিকেই তাকাই না কেন দেবদূত সর্বদা দিগন্তে উপস্থিত ছিলেন, তা উত্তর, পূর্ব, দক্ষিণ বা পশ্চিম দিকেই হোক না কেন। অবশেষে ফেরেশতা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিলেন। নবী (সাল্লাল্লাহু ‘আলাইহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) আতঙ্কিত হয়ে পড়লেন এবং তাঁর হৃদয় প্রচন্ড ধড়ফড় করছিল। তিনি খাদিজা (رضي الله عنها)-এর কাছে বাড়ি ফিরে এসে বললেন, "আমাকে ঢেকে দাও!" খাদিজা (رضي الله عنها) তাকে ঢেকে দিলেন এবং তাকে শান্ত হতে সাহায্য করলেন

Jabal alHira is a mountain which lies about two miles from the Ka’bah. Near the top is a small cave known as the Cave of Hira (Arabic: غار حراء), which is a little less than 4 meters in length and a little more than 1.5 meters in width. It was here that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) received the first revelations of the Holy Quran during the month of Ramadhan The Prophet (ﷺ) fled from the cave, and when he was halfway down the slope of the mountain he heard a voice above him saying: “O Muhammad, thou art the Messenger of God, and I am Jibraeel (Gabriel)”. The Prophet (ﷺ) stood gazing at the angel; then he turned away from him, but whichever way he looked the angel was always there on the horizon, whether it was to the north, east, south or west. Finally the angel turned away. The Prophet (ﷺ) was terrified and his heart was pounding hard. He returned home to Khadija (رضي الله عنها) and said, “Cover me!”. Khadija (رضي الله عنها) covered him and helped him calm down

Jabal an-Nour (Arabic: جَبَل ٱلنُّوْر‎, romanized: Jabal an-Nūr, lit. 'Mountain of the Light' or 'Hill of the Illumination') is a mountain near Mecca in the Hejazi region of Saudi Arabia. The mountain houses the grotto or cave of Hira' (غَار حِرَاء), which holds tremendous significance for Muslims throughout the world, as the Islamic Nabī (Prophet) Muhammad is said to have spent a great deal of time in this cave meditating, and it is widely believed that it was here that he received his first revelation, which consisted of the first five ayats of Surah Al-Alaq from the angel Jibra'il (as is pronounced in certain Quran recitation schools and some Arab tribes; also known as Gabriel). It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Makkah. The mountain itself is barely 640 m (2,100 ft) tall; nonetheless one to two hours are needed to make the strenuous hike to the cave. There are 1750 steps to the top which, even for a fit individual, can take anywhere between half an hour and one-and-a-half hours. Since this is where Muhammad is said to have had his first revelation and received the first verses of the Quran, the mountain was given the title Jabal an-Nūr ("Mountain of the Light" or "Mountain of the Enlightenment"). This experience is sometimes identified with the beginning of revelation; hence the present name. The date of the first revelation is said to be during the night on August 10, 610 A.D. Or, monday the 21st of Ramadan, making Muhammad 40 lunar years, 6 months and 12 days of age, i.e. 39 Gregorian years, 3 months and 22 days. Appearance One physical feature that differentiates Jabal al-Nour from other mountains and hills is its unusual summit, which makes it look as if two mountains are on top of each other. The top of this mountain in the mountainous desert is one of the loneliest of places. However, the cave within, which faces the direction of the Kaaba, is even more isolated. While standing in the courtyard back then, people could only look over the surrounding rocks. Nowadays, people can see the surrounding rocks as well as buildings that are hundreds of meters below and hundreds of meters to many kilometers away. Hira is both without water or vegetation other than a few thorns. Hira is higher than Thabīr (ثَبِيْر),[a] and is crowned by a steep and slippery peak, which Muhammad with some companions once climbed.
