@@AscottSauce Nope. The impact of the front wheels into a barrier can violently snap the steering wheel around. If a drivers thumb is looped over the grip and his hands generally near the wheel, bones can very easily be broken, from fingers and thumbs to wrists.
@themechanist78756 жыл бұрын
@@AscottSauce When a car has smashed into a barrier like that at those speeds there is no point in holding on to the steering wheel as the suspension and steering installation are damaged anyway and the car is beyond regaining control. Keeping your hands on the wheel would mean broken fingers/wrists as the forces in a crash make it snap all over the place and are too great to counter. That's why keeping your arms against your chest like that is the safest thing to do in a crash. If you look at videos of racing crashes from inside the cockpit you'll see the drivers always do this when the crash is beyond the point of regaining control of the car. As for the brake pedal, looks like his foot slipped off of it at the impact and I can imagine getting it back on the pedal is not very easy when you're being flung all over the place during the crash. On top of that comes the fact that slamming the brakes while the car is spinning out of control like that doesn't do much anyway and certainly won't stop the car from further spinning.
@Janduin456 жыл бұрын
@@AscottSauce You're not wrong, but after the initial impact the hydraulic pressure will most likely be gone from the brake lines anyways. Also the driver most likely pressed the brake as hard as he could but slipped off the pedal from the impact. Once he lost control and hit the wall he probably just pressed his feet down as hard as he could and kept his limbs from flailing around until the car stopped.
