Great driving! I had a Z4 M Coupe years ago and that was a nice little powerhouse. Faster than a 981 Cayman S on a straight line, but at the track I was owned even on the straights by a pdk 981 Boxster Spyder! So, I had to move up!

Lovely to watch because I have a 2016 Boxster 981 GTS! A shame about the BMW M3 overtaking it, though. Great driving, and thanks for sharing your video with us.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. Your comment about not much difference between your GTS and the M3 GTS was true until he got around you and the traffic cleared. Then he pretty much disappeared, LOL.

Hehe yep. But he was behind me the whole time and there were a couple of corners that my Boxster was faster. I was surprised. But at the end I felt I was pushing myself too much and didn't want to make a mistake and crash so I let him through and go. My ego is not big enough :). Greets!

A manual sure is fun, but the Porsche PDK dual clutch gearbox is more accurate and faster, the PDK gearbox is more suitable for the track

Sounds like the PSE valves are closed due to the absence of backfire popping. Still sounds amazing!
@mamigagi3 жыл бұрын
I think they only pop when in sports mode, not in sports plus. This is the case in the 991.2 cars. I could be wrong though since I don't have the sports chrono pack to test.

awesome video! some more practice and you'll feel much more comfortable with those oversteer situations. What type of video camera system did you use here? did you mount it to the bar between the seats??
@RingRennSport9 жыл бұрын
Jordan Payne Hi Jordan, thanks. My first mid-engined car and not yet 100% used to it. I find the 981 to be very tricky at the limit indeed, especially so at low-speed transitions. The limit is high but when it snaps it super quick because of inertia. Camera used was a GoPro 4 Silver, there is no bar in the Boxster. I made something myself to attach the GoPro to the plastic part in between the seats. Used non destructive adhesive film. Like 3M Command product. Works perfect and leaves absolutely no marks or residue.

Awesome man! I think that on a flat track you'd find the 981 to be quite easy to drive at the limit, it's just that all the elevation changes and high curbs of the Nurburgring is probably the cause of the snappiness. None the less, good driving and stay safe!! thanks for the video recording info!

What did you do to appear the Nurburgring on the PCM?
@RingRennSport9 жыл бұрын
You need to have the Sport Chrono option. Then when you start a new lap timer session it will record the track route via the GPS. Once you have done the circuit once you can save this time as a reference lap and load it back to compare when you start another lap. Then also the circuit layout appears. This can be any road you drive, doesn't need to be a track. Greets.

I have also the opinion he was too careless in some overpassing situation and especially with the motorcycles. Why chance something bad happening, take another lap. The mistake stays with you all your next laps

Driving like a gentleman. Ayrton Senna said something to this effect : If a racing driver does not take the gap, he is not a racing driver. I understand this mindset.

Old video I know but the agressive way you're overtaking those motorbikes made my blood boil. You can talk all you want about being experienced on the ring but in several places you come up beside the bike just as they're about to tip in to the corner and even when you have almost an entire track width to pass your only half a meter away or less. DISGRACEFUL driving!!!
