Nice tribute to my most accessible Amtrak route! As you know, the CNO route was originally part of the Illinois Central passenger system, that was later absorbed Amtrak and runs on what is now all Canadian National trackage between NOLA and Chicago. So for extra realism, the only other locomotives encountered by the modern era CNO would have CN markings.

My wife and I (this is her Google ID) rode Train 59 about 2015, and the sleepers were on the rear. Don't know if this has changed.

As I thought about it, another unique feature of rhe City of New Orleans is that it must back in and out of Chicago Union Station, since to reach the CN-IC main, it has to travel backward onto the BNSF for some distance to reach a junction with a connecction to CN, where it moves forward. Be interesting to see how you might temporarily fiddle the scenery on your layout to represent this!
