The table features removable scenery for access into the tunnel, controls and part storage for the railroad inside a draw, and a removable computer style power cord.
Table dimensions are 29 inches wide, 57 inches long, and 18 inches high. The removable plate glass top weighs 60 lbs.

That's fantastic, and considering it was built 40 years ago it's not only in great shape but also shows great skill at a time when n gauge was still a relatively new phenomenon. Well done, a kudos to the kids and grandkids for not wrecking the trains 😋

I remember the first time I saw this layout in N Scale Primer and always wanted to see more of it. After 40 years I finally get to see it. Thank you for posting this video! What a great little layout!

Great layout. I love the way you managed to put so much into a small space without the final result looking toy-like. 👍

My coffee table is an N Scale layout as well. Though I will say yours is old and I must say it is more detailed, I have had 35 plus years of enjoyment from it. Running them is fun. But like you watching my kids and a host of friends, kids, and now grandchildren, including a 19 year old grandchild, is the absolute best part. Good job, it really is a nice table, and the layout is fantastic! As I have been told and will pass it to you, be proud of your work and the fun you have passed on to all the children.

Love all that Chessie rolling stock. It is what I saw as a kid in SE Pa. I like how you have no roadways but are not missed unless one looks for them. They can take up so much room on a tiny layout. Water part reminds me a bit of the upper Chesapeake. Well done. Thank you for posting.

So cool. I had an Empire railroad I freelanced back in the late 80s and had six of those good running N-scale, Hong Kong Bachmanns with the metal gears. I had two U36Bs, two F9s, and two GP40s. I also used Rapido couplers. The knuckle couplers back then produced a jiggling effect when running trains down the track. The Rapidos were much more reliable.

You do realize this piece of art is done in the 80s, right? This guy must be a master for a very long time, "keep up the good work" usually gives to someone in early stage of his carrier, it is not appropriate here.

Yes indeed, what everyone has said, amazing talent Sir. I'm guessing I have that issue of M-R. The bigger scales are cool, (as they all are), and I've had and have O gauge Lionel and other brands, H.O., a variety, no Z, maybe some day. But, at least for me, realistically, it is difficult to devote the "real estate" to anything bigger layout-wise, than N scale. And of course there is the always to be considered cost. But it can be as much or as little as You please, make it or purchase it, that is the variety, and fun, of the hobby !

Glad you enjoyed it. I maintain the 35 year old "N" scale table, but in my old age I primarily work in "G" now. It is easier on the eyes and fingers and I run it outdoors where I have more space..

There are many very helpful N scale locomotive reviews on KZbin that compare new and old models from different manufacturers. Here is one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpK1XoGaoqZ4hrs From my experience, KATO has always made smooth and quiet running locomotives with good electrical pick up. Bachmann, Atlas, and Life Like make some good locomotives now, but earlier models could be very problematic.
