American woman here that knows some Chinese. The word literally means "that". The song is called Rainbow, Sunshine, Unicorn. It's an uplifting song to tell people that they are more amazing than they think they are. The line you are listening to repeats the word "that" as in "You're that that that that that rainbow, sunshine, unicorn" - that's the literal translation. The Chinese language is far older than English. It's been around longer than our entire country. So, if Americans have created an offensive word that sounds like a normal, everyday Chinese (and Korean has a similar word) - that's our problem, not theirs.

Kinda funny seeing how people are constructing a fictional majority that gets offended to this just so they can circlejerk about it. It's an amazing phenomenon, fabricating an imaginary "they", when really its just a few people getting offended to this, and some of those very few are trolling even.

@@griffith2995 You're wrong on so many levels. You don't murder 5 people because a serial killer murders 5 people. Religion is literally where the term "turn the other cheek" comes from (Matthew 5 in the Bible). The Quran also says reconciliation is preferable to retaliation (Chapter 42) and Judaism considers revenge seeking as sinful behavior. Weak behavior is exactly the impulsive mindset you're preaching, its actually more akin to beings that don't have a sense of reason.

it still makes my blood boil remembering that some students got angry that a white teacher, on a lecture on filler words" said "nega" or "that" in chinese which is a filler word. like um, or uhhh. since he was proficient in chinese, hence he used chinese as a foreign example. like, fuck. such self centeredness of those students. there is 190+ more countries with some having been oppressed by western powers before. no foreigner is going to kowtow naking sure their language is abiding by whatever ego those kind of people has. so yeah. i am going to say the nigero, when Im speaking japanese. im going to say negros when referring to my hometown, im calling it montenegro, and Im saying negro when speaking spanish since I do know some spanish esp to my spanish relatives.
