I knew this sloka. That's why I said Vedas have statements that seem contradictory. Different statements are for people with different consciousness. The above is directed towards atheistic class of people. Bhagavad Gita is summary of all Vedas and Upanishads, and is the conclusive statement, as accepted by all the previous bonafide acharyas (Sri Ramanujacarya, Madhvacarya, Visnusvami and Nimbarka) who acquired knowledge through transcendental senses and intelligence, which transcends the limits of space and time. We should not try to understand the statements of Vedas with out limited material senses and intelligence that cannot delve into many things.
