I use Ableton Live's Clips interface and a midi controller triggering various full tracks, small percussion and vocal loops and VST effects (like Dada Life's 'Endless Smile' for making live riser effects, reverbs and delays for smooth transitions, and a bunch of other effects). Ableton makes sure all tracks are slotted to a master tempo, just like other DJ's use Record Box for their pioneer CDJ sets.
