It’s not a double standard. Context can make a word have a more sinister meaning for some people than for others. That word has a dark history for black folks. Black folk have ancestors who were whipped while being called that word. They have ancestors who were attacked, beaten, raped, falsely accused of crimes, and denied the right to sit in restaurants, all while being called that word. Idk man it seems like a simple concept to me. I won’t say it out of simple respect. My family didn’t go through that messed up shit. So yeah, seems reasonable to just listen to black folk and hear them out on it. It’s not an attack on white people to not be able to use a word that has sinister meaning for black people, it’s simply asking for respect.
