I posted an unflattering comment in Romaji four years ago. I would like to apologize for this, if anyone has read it. Four years later, I have realized my immature appreciation. I have changed my mind completely. Yasuno Sempai has wonderful execution. Large sweeping blends, followed up with leading cuts. Soft contact, powerful finishes. There is so much variation and creativity here, it takes one's breath away... Of course, the movements are so powerful that even the young and tough ones may find it hard to take ukemi, but, of all people, younger people should be prepared to work hard to attain such beautiful expressivity. Ah.. Yasuno's Sensei's aikido is truly wonderful..! Flamboyant, artistic, great..! Soft but powerful, full of the magnanimous spirit of aikido. I envy the students who get a chance to take ukemi from him..

Great to see Yasuno Sensei, my teacher from years ago, in such great form.

Those who say Aikido is Fake. go to a Dojo and take some techniques from a Sensei like this. It is easy to judge if never tried it. Just looking these videos , does not reprent the reality. Just go there and try it!

why don't people go to their local aikido school/academy to try it before you think you know what should happen and what is fake? There are many forms of aikido, some are in fact very fake and emphasise on flowery/soft movements....then there is yoshinkan aikido, used by the japanese police force and top militaries around the world for it's counter attacks. It does not suit all people...aikido does work and is extremely efficient at flooring an attacker (however big!) ...

Is it really a 7th dan doing the techniques? I could be wrong but while watching I saw a lot of ego, this is not Osensei's way, I couldn't see any harmony in his techniques and it seemed like too much power was being used.

This 7th dan and those like him are the reasons why Aikido has so much disrespect in the martial arts community. He uses muscular strength way too often and not very efficiently. He telegraphs his atemi when the momentum would provide all the necessary force. I wouldn't complain if he had 2nd dan or less but WTF.

+footballsamurai I don't think he uses strength. It just looks like it. He just likes large, flamboyant and powerful movements, but, as far as I can see, he uses no force. First he blends with a wide sweep, then he cuts and leads when uke is off-balance. That is all.

Hey guy, just relax, that's not a fight, that's aïkido. No enemy, no winner or looser, just a work on balance, move and sensation. Martial education in fact. That's not "efficient", but samurais have been training like that for hundred years. So that's probably not

I'm sorry but I do practice aikido for a few years and what do we see here ? : Indeed a "work on balance, move and sensation. Martial education in fact" like Patrice Clergeau said but I see no martial ART at all: The sensei shows some moves on non hostiles and non resisting "opponents". The last part from 5'50 to 6'12 is so ludicrous and pathetic :What is the purpose of that??? And I agreee with footballsamurai: he truly does use "muscular strength" His ushiro waza (3'30 to 3'52) does not convince me more : no building of the technic, brutal strength (3'50-1) So aikido is definitely not a martial art but has some great qualities!

I think these teachers of Aikido start to believe they can really throw someone after doing it for years. This is so fake.
