I find it interesting that Afton here isn't the man we usually see or expect from canon or fan interpretations. He knows he's a monster and hates himself for it. But he feels like he could never change, even if he got to go back and change his past. He's as broken as his children and victims. The Devil or whatever force has him can't cause him anymore suffering than what he has already gone through. There's no more passion, no more hate, joy, sorrow or fear. He's completely numb to any meaningful emotions except maybe the love for his children. Even a Lovecraftian horror can't affect him now, not in a way it can affect a normal person. He could stare into the face of madness because he feels nothing, not physically, barely anything emotionally or even spiritually. He is like a Nazgoul with free will, he is a hollow man. You hate him, but at the same time you feel bad for him, and even root for him to a point. You almost want him to find some kind of redemption, even though we as the audience and Afton the character, knows that he doesn't deserve redemption or mercy. Perhaps one day, he will be released from his torment in Hell, and finally reunite with his children. Maybe he will be granted the mercy of a final death and cease existing. Or maybe one day an ai will digitally clone him and wreak havoc with some storyteller animatronic from the 80's.

Love the last part in relation ngl Mimic is the inheritor of Afton’s legacy. A broken shard of a soul forced into an animatronic that learned of William’s victims and history and decided “I want to become that. I want to be the one in control, I never want to be hurt again.” And as such, it shares his fate. Burned, springlocked and sealed away. It’s constantly punished for following William’s ways of manipulation, but it never stops. It can’t stop, because no matter how much pain it feels, it’s still just a machine with no humanity to draw from, only its imitation. If FNaF can ever pull off a definitive ending again, it will be with Mimic’s death, and I look forward to how Scott and Steel Will set up the end to its arc.

Balphebonne is one of few designs in horror that manages to genuinely unsettle me. I feel like the closer to human a monster design is the more creepy it ends up being, it's the eyes in particular that get me.
@zeebeeplayzАй бұрын
It's really just uncanny valley, but it's executed so incredibly well. Instead of looking almost entirely human but slightly inhuman, it looks almost entirely inhuman while looking slightly human. The idea of something almost entirely mechanical having flesh or human eyes is so impossible in nature that it terrifies us.

Not sure if you're still open to questions, but I just wanted to say I ADORED how you described Golden Freddy as "Not the biggest fish in the sea". It truly was a chilling revelation that some of the things haunting Afton were indeed entities outside of our own concepts of "place" or "thing". Perhaps they have an origin, but likely they don't per your inspiration of not everything needing an explanation. But you still made it very distinct that these distorted beings had come from OUTSIDE the realm we know. Which, again, reinforces just how horrendous Afton's experiments were that they now seem to be drawing attention from every corner... On a side note, as I type this, a thought occurred to my head. The scene of the three floating heads occurs just before Afton makes his way down the stairs and through the door to hell. An abhorrent, grim sign of exactly the kind of punishment Afton will get and thoroughly deserve. But I think to myself, this was JUST before he faced the door. And as I recall from Greek mythology, the door to hell always had a guard. Cerberus. Perhaps the three floating heads were a manifestation of the Hound of Hell itself, and the whole scene was one big metaphor of the literal hound of hell staring down its latest visitor to its master's gate, before letting them through. Sorry, got carried away. I just love the body horror in your film so much! What was your inspiration for it?

That's a pretty nice theory! I believe most of the body horror influence came from the Doom and Quake enemies, they were always quite offputting and cool at the same time.

This video perfectly captures the theme of FNAF 1-UCN. The three floating heads represent the hell William created himself. Freddy as the company, the other head as the lives he twisted and contorted, and springtrap as the grave William dug for himself. The fact that William can still be called human is what scares me about this project. And it's really sad knowing that even though William is dead from UCN onwards, the world is still stuck in the 80s. The tentacles reaching out from the sky remind me of the entity from Dead by Daylight. A creature drawn to a world where one person has managed to commit great atrocities.
@sampolanco16842 ай бұрын
One of the many things I enjoyed about this is how you made Afton such a realistic character based on his game, sure he had some regrets to what he did and probably didn’t expect any redemption for what he’s done, he’s just accepted that there’s no going back and even if he did he wouldn’t have changed anything, he doesn’t go on some redemption arc or anything because to him at the end of the day what’s the point, he knows where he’s going and theres no changing it. I also really liked Balphebonne’s character entrance and how she sort of represented the pain and suffering that not only William brought, but the whole Fazbear franchise as a whole, all the death, torture, and the grief it brought to everyone, my guess is that the deal they made was a sort of I help you but you first have to help me, maybe she influenced him to commit more atrocities in exchange for life and life for his family, but to do that William had to keep spreading pain to others even in death, so maybe she also used the phrase “You won’t die.” As sort of a way to tell William that you still have to hold your end of the bargain, and was really trying to break him down by bringing him to those twisted places to remind him of what he really is, and the ending was sort of out of desperation for her to continue to live outside of the realm of purgatory or worse, but William’s choice to just drop everything especially the present to Old Man Consequences and Cassidy( which still is a mystery to me because I WANT to know what it was for Old Man Consequences to tell Cassidy that it was “something he’d consider a gift”) and just accepting his fate and opening the door to hell whilst Balphebonne realizes she’s LOST and William is no longer her puppet, before he’s ultimately consumed by hell, what he’s doing down there, if he’s suffering, because he’s already a broken man who’s pretty much dead inside already is a mystery and who knows if how long he will remain there, maybe this is what Cassidy wanted for him, or maybe she just realized that there was no satisfaction to torturing her murderer when he’s already lost his will to keep going on at all but it goes down to that point, the consequences of your actions will ALWAYS haunt you, whether you know it or not, if you feel remorse or not, you can’t escape it.

I love how much heart, soul, and thought you put into this. I'm really hoping to see what you come up with next, whether it's FNaF or an original work, because what you've done with this is amazing. Since you're open to questions, what was the inspiration behind combining cosmic horror themes with FNaF with in the first place? That's a combination I've genuinely don't think I've seen before.

I just love how- human the characters are in this story. William is not some cartoon villain who twirls his mustache saying "I always come back." He's broken like everyone else in this story, I could practically feel the pain in his voice lying to his son that'll be right behind him. He may be a monster, but he's still a human. The behind scenes explains that he simply saw his kids at experiments- or at least that's just what he tells himself. Old man Consequence despite being this supernatural entity existing out of time docent act like some fortune teller or god that's above everyone. He's just a giant dude chilling at his lake helping others the other side. Even he is taken aback by Williams story. It gives me the impression that even the entities that would to us seem incomprehensible and otherworldly are just cogs in the machine. This is truly one of the best pieces of media I've stumbled across not even just in terms of fnaf. Just in general. This will live rent free in my head for the rest of my life lol. Thank you scope for making this incredible film.

Wow, never seen anyone really take the appropriate angle on William's manner circa fnaf 3, he's not "le cool ebil villian" at least, not to himself. He failed, to his own hubris, and at least to himself he knows it if the characters don't fully grasp it. He was intelligent, very much so, he grasps his own failure more than anybody on earth. Though his regret is in failing, not in his evil deeds to begin with. In your short he leaps at being even implied as an "innovator", man of extraordinary ego quelled and silenced by the weight of his own failure. If he CAN talk at all (as he can in this paradimensional setting rather than in just real life as an animated corpse) he should be appropriately observant and rather pensive, or just observant. when Old Man Consequences said “What is it that he didn’t tell me?”, I’m 99% sure he’s talking about William’s infamous “I always come back” line. Now William himself obviously can’t actually come back(since he’s in hell for eternity ☠️), but he can still carry on his “legacy”. The Mimic and Pitbonnie being clear examples of this. Both act exactly like William, so they basically are William. I guess peepaw Willy had the last laugh.

I happened upon this gem of a fan film after seeing another channel review it here on KZbin and I decided to watch the original video for myself to make my own opinions and interpretations of it and I was not disappointed. Everything about this film was just perfect to me: the plot, the characters, the atmosphere, the art style and environments, everything was amazing! Although William was still very much the monster that he was when he killed his victims so many years before the time of the movie, I couldn't help but feel some remorse for a man that, at least in the end, chose to make things right and set the souls of his victims and loved ones to rest, even if it was just so that he himself could finally be free from the curse of immortality that he brought upon himself. And, in the end, he simply accepted his fate and entered Hell of his own volition; no defiant last words, no attempts to stave off the inevitable, just acceptance that he was doomed and there was no other fate for him but to suffer for the grave sins he committed in life. The whole film was, as you put it, very melancholic, and the ending was just the cherry on top. I've come back to watch this movie several times now, often picking up on little things that I had missed the other times that I watched, while also trying to make sense of everything happening in the movie. This BTS video certainly helped to clear up some things for me, but there are a few questions that I have that I thought I would ask: 1.) The surrealist nature of the movie can make it a bit difficult to determine what is real and what is just the twisted imagination of William. My conclusion is that what is being shown, in terms of the setting, is something akin to Purgatory- a realm outside of space and time, in between the realms of Heaven and Hell. As each of the characters in the film have all died, especially by the end of Pizzeria Simulator, I've seen this movie, and William's quest, as being a way for the souls of all involved to finally move on from this realm to their respective final resting places. However, there are some bits of dialog that hints that William and the rest of the characters (with the exception of Old Man Consequences and Balphebonne) are actually still in the real world and the events of the film tie in to events of Pizzeria Simulator. So, I'm curious to know how much of what we see is in the real world or if it is all just in the afterlife. 2.) You mentioned that Balphebonne is a "her," which I find to be an interesting detail, as there is one person that was not obviously present, but which I couldn't help think was being hinted at here and there: William's wife. There is this statue of a woman wearing a long dress, covering her face with one hand that is shown a number of times in the film in a way that is meant to hint that it is important in some way to the story: it's flashed across the screen when Michael stabs William when they first meet; William stares at it almost loke he's remembering something from his past before he coughs up a lake of blood; and there are several versions of the statue in the background as William opens the door to Hell and he is confronted by what he sees on the other side. Additionally, after William frees his youngest son from Cassidy and allows him to move on to Heaven, the camera holds onto William's face for several moments as the outline of a woman appears behind him briefly before the scene changes. Although you mentioned that Balphebonne does not have a specific origin and is really meant to be a mix of various ideas, it still makes me wonder if William's wife could have been present in some shape or form in the movie the entire time. I was wondering if you could perhaps provide some clarity to this. 3.) Although Cassidy left to join his parents after his final conversation with William, we see toward the end of the movie that he was with Old Man Consequences on the lake. While this makes some sense, as it was Old Man Consequences that tried to convince Cassidy to "leave the demon to his demons" with regard to William, I'm still a bit curious to know why he was at the lake and not with his parents. This seems to be important too, as after Old Man Consequences asks himself what William did not tell him, the camera cuts to Cassidy and holds on him for several seconds, implying that the answer could lie with him. Could you perhaps explain? 4.) I'm curious to know what inspired you as you worked on the story for this film. You mentioned some of the references to other media in the video that you incorporated into the film, as well as the artists whose worked inspired your own art style for the film, so I'm curious to know if there was anything else that may have inspired you or that you incorporated into the film that you didn't mention. I respect that you wish to keep some mystery and ambiguity to the film, so I understand if I don't get all the answers to my questions, but I thought I would ask them anyway. Absolutely great work, my friend! I'm glad that I found your film by chance and I look forward to your future projects!

The original idea was for William's purgatory to be reality itself, he is no longer alive, therefore his spirit's perception of things is his own reality. As for Golden Freddy, I kind of wanted its spirit to pay one last visit to Old Man Consequences before moving on for good, checking on what he would do to William. I think some of the other inspirations were classic creepypasta creations, such as Marble Hornets!

Anytime I see it's thumbnail, I get sick to my stomach and even thinking about it makes me feel a way I can't describe. Knowing that you can do nothing to stop whatever could be above humanity, that one day you might be faced with the hell William entered and experience it for eternity is simply incomprehensible. It scares me honestly, that this video comes out of the screen and makes me feel how I imagine William does. I actually love Balphebonne's design. It's the true mix of a living biological being and an animatronic suit. How she has the animatronic head's teeth, but her eyes sit sunken in their sockets like where a human's eyes would be if they wore a suit. The digitigrade legs are more akin to an animal's, but she stands upright like a human, giving her a more offputting silhouette. And of course, all the "suit pieces" aren't made of fluff and felt, but some form of fetid chitin and rotting exposed flesh. It's genuinely unsettling to look at, and honestly peak design.

Balphebonne and other "lovecraft" things wchich Afton encounter, give me instant vibes of "accurate demons", beings beyond reality and human comprehesion, invited by all suffering, evil and despair or emptiness of the killer. They seem curious about Afton, the fact that such a human being, even after such experiences, has no regrets, clearly attracts them. They even test it (sometimes for their own sadistic amusement, partly to check if it's really a hopeless case), and after all, it's not often that someone consciously leads themselves to hell.

i'll be honest with you guys, my biggest complaint is that i wish there was more of your fnaf interpretation. you could capture absolutly everything that captivated me about fnaf in its earlier days, the supernatural elements, the lingering sense of melancholy, the creepy atmosphere and yet you gave your own spin on the tale that still feels true to the original. i think your take on Afton and his psyche is phenomenal "miserably human" is just a perfect way to discribe him, someone so evil and selfish yet that little spark of humanity makes him even more obcene because of it. id love to see more of that, know more about the versions of the other characters like Mike, Henry, Charlie, Cassidy and OMC, but if you feel like its not necessary i respect that. Belphebonnie is also the much better version of the fnaf book's dreaded agony creatures, just straight up a demon works far better and is honestly a far more inspired antagonist (also is calling it a "her" a nod to Eleonore from Fazbear Frights? id love to know) in short, amazing job, i was having a really bad day the day the film came out, it sparked life and inspiration back into me, thats what good art does, i'll be eagerly waiting to see any future projects from you

Is the “old man consequences” suppose to be who you meet before being set to heaven or hell? He mentions that he met the man William talks about in the theater who died, could that mean he tries to listen to the life of each dead man’s sins before being judged? Also all the hell Williams goes through in this, you stated that not all of it was cause by GF or imagination, it was actually happening. I have a theory that because William is meant to be dead but managed to cheat death, which angers hell knowing they just got cheated out of taking his would, so they spat out demons in the form of Williams sins to locate Afton and send him down to where he belongs. Hence the fight between William and Balphebonne, trying to throw William into the nightmares feeders mouth but failing to do so? Or sister location lift being sent down, am I close?😅😂 Also amazing job!!! This movie gave me goosebumps🙏😂

Honestly in my eyes, it’s not easy to do cosmic horror. Somehow, your animation (and the explanation you gave in this video) has the best visuals and feel of cosmic horror. I’m glad you expressed that Golden Freddy is far from the most dangerous thing… As you said, there is always something far worse in the universe.

I really appreciate that you have built a unique film for the FNaF community, this concept is something that I absolutely love and something I would like to build as well! I have a question I would love to know, how did you structure the project blueprint? Did you have your entire team in discord and use a separate platform to plan everything? I’m just curious for what can and can’t work for a collaboration project!

The idea at first was to have William start at the ruins of Fazbear's Fright and end up with his fate sealed for good, after that I kept throwing ideas into it and changed the order of events many times until I came up with the final script. The environments are their own separate files, sometimes I move a lot of objects in a subtle way for each individual shot.

There’s a lot of things about this film that I don’t fully understand, and I believe that is part of what makes it so special. However, there is one thing that I’ve had in my mind since I noticed it appearing repeatedly in the story, and not a lot of people seem to be discussing it: That statue of a woman. She’s wearing a hat and an elegant dress. She appears repeatedly early in the film, usually watching over William. As the film progresses, the focus gradually shifts to Balphebonnie and her torment of William. But right at the film’s end, when Afton stares down the door of hell, many of those statues appear behind him as he begins screaming. I personally think this may be a symbol of Afton’s wife. She’s constantly watching his every move, looking to mock and torment him for his failures as well as his role in the death of their children (not to mention many others). I know I probably won’t get a complete answer, nor do I necessarily want one. I’m just curious, since I haven’t seen many people talk about it, and it’s recurring appearance as well as it showing up at the very end leads me to believe the statue is pretty important. After all, hell hath no fury like a mother whose children are threatened

were the cosmic horror beings (like balphebonne) created as a manifestation of William's evil, or were they always there, just waiting for someone evil enough to come along?

I just have to say this first, that animation was awesome and terrifying at the same time and I love it! I don't want to bombard you with a bunch of pointless questions that I know you won't give full answers to but there are some I'm super curious about for story reasons. 1) Is William truly gone? 2) Is Golden Freddy finally at peace? 3) What was your favorite scene throughout this film? Mine is William's final confrontation with himself before walking into hell.

The brutal, harsh and crude aspect of existance all put in this, almost reminded me of horizon or berserk, that feeling if helplesness that we may feel sometimed is present right there, and the humanization that the characters were given along with springtrap is amazing, i loved the way springtrap regreted in some way what he has done despite not showing regret to his experiments, and the set up to his inevitable intrest leading him to that was also amazing, makes me emphatize with him

The depiction of William going to hell at the end was really well done. As if pure despair was visualised. This whole animation really captured the essence of the game in my opinion. The official fnaf movie had so much potential too, so much actually captivating and meaningful lore they could’ve used, whilst also adding lore we hadn’t previously known, but instead they completely changed all of that and went for a cash grab. I guess they had to keep it child friendly. A shame..

People Don't talk about how Badass and terrifying this Scraptrap redesign is to be honest. It looks more corpse than suit due to how thin and decayed it is, and the few significant elements of the suit including the Claws and Teeth reflect the Demon hidden underneath.

Seeing my favorite video game being represented in a fnaf project this good is honestly my lifelong dream Im talking about scorn, the game has inspired my art, my sense of understanding our world, and the themes i often integrate into my own works of fiction. It seems my life always circles around to scorn every few months, i cannot escape the hold this game has on me, but in all honesty? I dont want to escape, this game has let me think about things that helped me understand society, and life as a whole You see, my whole life, ive had a hard time picking up on the meaning of some behaviors ive observed. Ive struggled with the feelings ive felt, mainly why i feel the way I do about certian societal taboos, like nudity or sex. Sometimes things are just human nature, and we can pretend we're above our instincts- and some are- but most of us aren't, and if we learn to recognize that, we can help each other be better, and not enact the violent acts that have been normalized. In short, i think as a species, we need to look at what we want to be, and whats really wrong? Is it so wrong to be uncomfortable wearing clothes in the summer? Is it wrong to make fiction that forces you to think about the indescribable? As a society, we need to ask ourselves more questions, we need to change for the better If we want to continue to exist, we have to be better, we have to ask these uncomfortable questions, regardless of some status quo we think we have So next time someone asks you something that makes you uncomfortable, or disgusted, or scared, actually think about why it makes you feel that way, because maybe its not the subject itself Maybe its something inside you. Some things should NOT be pondered however, like sex crimes, crimes against children or animals, and serial murder

the cosmic horror of BalpheBonny i thought was alluding to how creatures in hell have recognized Williams acts and sent out a crude mockery of his evil to bring him to hell where he belongs, do u think he had a shred of humanity that peaked out in the final few moments, the very seconds when he was taken to hell to be tortured?

I’ve seen the film three times now, and your filmmaking skills continue to stagger me. Your writing is smart, your characters are nuanced, and just about every shot feels very intentional. Truly amazing work. Do you have any intention of making more films-perhaps ones that aren’t based on existing IP? I love Five Nights at Freddy’s and think that your movie draws from that series’ strengths, but I think it’d be cool if you made something that you could-you know-make money off of!

This film is simply amazing and I'm not even glazing the cinematography music camera angles the models everything this is the essence of a "fnaf fan film" it was also nice to see all the references to popular media especially with the likes of death note and what afton and light somewhat have in common One question I do have, though (albeit it may be obvious) did afton ever regret his decisions even a little? Was he lying when he said he'd do it over again, or is he truly that irredeemable?
@scope-wad2 ай бұрын
He does seem like the type of man who'd constantly lie to himself, unsure of his own feelings.

@scope-wad Thats a valid response in-canon william seems to share this train of thought somewhat I remember watching a over-analyzing video of all of Williams dialouge and it seems like william does and says certain things for the sake of poetry and playing a character or in other words "symmetry" like a theatre kid, one of his dialouges when he kills micheal "that was easier than I'd thought it would be" suggests willian would've found it harder mentally to kill his own son and the tone of his voice whilst saying that compared to the rest of his dialogs suggests he's lying to himself especially given the context he would literally be talking to himself and the rest of his dialogs (according to pj wood) were purposely done to sound like an "shady snake oil salesman" other dialogs seem to suggest this double sided personality like william saying "I'd knew it was a lie obviously but it is intriguing nothingless" he knew the fnaf 6 pizzeria was a trap yet purposely stayed inside of it as to why we will probably never know sorry for the Yap session this happens to be one of my favorite takes on william afton right alongside squimpis mcgrimpus and twelveman afton to me it captures what william afton should be instead of egotistical idiot with the self awareness comparable to a toddler

I can't help but to see a semblance in the concept of Glitchtrap in Balphebonne through my lense to be honest. A being conjured by Williams wickedness and evil along with the world's own sort of matches UCN's whole theme, and Help Wanted's respectively. The Nightmare animotronics were manifested by Andrew as the living concept and reflection of Williams actions coming to haunt and torture him in that eternal nightmare he faced while still alive inside his barley fictional skeletal body in a hospital. Meanwhile with Glitchtrap the thing was generated by a general wide fear of Freddy's and the consequences and sins of Fazbear Entertainment continuing to stay open trying to revive old memories from a cheaply cut budget AI replication system, that then goes onto haunt them or anyone associated to their sins for wanting to stay open for so long. What I mean is, Balphebonne fits all these correct marks entirely. And possibly even makes these concepts in the modern story better, with how she's shown to constantly follow and in a sense mock William to drag him down to hell, replaying memories with her always being the one to attack him. Reflecting his sinister anemic atomic sense of wickedness constantly searching and reminding him, while also mimicking his form as an attempt to add to that mockery almost, like Glitchtrap.
