I have a question outside the current grammar topic. In the first example sentence of ものの 文法, Yuki 先生 said 分かってはいるものの。。。 Can anybody explain to me why not just using 分かっている, but instead adding は after て form? It is a different grammar from ている or just an emphasis?

Yukichan wa sugoi desyo. Jyugo wa itsumo saiko des. Taihen arigato gozaimasu.
