Does Amsterdam have a huge port?
@kempo_954 жыл бұрын
It does have a sizable port, nothing like Rotterdam though.

You have to go through a major lock to lower from sea level to then get to Amsterdam. We went through in Spring 2915 on cruise ship. On the return from Amsterdam, as we approached the lock to raise us back to sea level, my wife turned to me and quoted the famous poem: "I must go up to the sea again...."

Giorgio Boem marking 100km/h speedlimit because it can get confused for an 80km/h road

Cool solution, in my country there's nothing like that! Thank you!

Continuing from what @Nagalon said: Basically, there are four or perhaps five speed limits in the Netherlands: 50 within built-up areas, 80 outside built-up areas, 100 on so-called "autoweg" and 130 on so-called "autosnelweg". The latter is a freeway, or motorway: a road without level intersections, traffic lights, or traffic coming from the other direction, and with hard shoulders. Recently, though, because the Netherlands produce more nitrogen oxides than they have committed themselves to in an international treaty, a court judgement has led the government to lower the maximum speed on the motorways to 100 during the day. Also, there can be road signs indicating a different speed, like 70 on a ring road inside a city, or 80 on a motorway because of emissions.
