I remember a couple years ago watching a video of yours talking about peak mrekk (in like 2021/22) and thinking that he would cement a legacy that probably wouldn't be passed for another 10 years. It really felt like mrekk's skill was at the top of the human limit and surpassing him was not a question of when someone would pass him, but if someone would ever pass him. This game never ceases to amaze me how far the skill cap can be pushed.

I'll be honest Akolibed becoming #1 just isn't very exciting to me, even though I know he's achieved something incredible. I think the reason for that (or at least most of the reason) is something you touch upon here, it's his very quiet and almost unnoticed rise to the top 3. His silent but extremely dedicated approach to the game unfortunately makes me see him as just another player, it's probably also why a lot of people are unfairly downplaying this insane accomplishment. The complete saturation of high pp speed plays probably doesn't help either but that's just how overexposure works, it would be (and used to be) the same with aim.
