Yeah, it's quite a lo budget cruisin' through bland deserts and dull plains + freeways while they "forget" to let us visit cool USA hotspots like Vegas, New York, Florida, New Orleans, etc. It's also very obvious that they used the same backgrounds and landmarks over and over again even in the arcade version (hardware limitations I think).

This is nostalgic I remember all of this game even though I barely played it. I never even played the other cruis’n exotica or cruis’n world probably because I had Cruisn USA and found quickly boring. So I probably didn’t give the other cruis’n games a chance. Don’t want to sound like a hater but when I first got N64, my first batch of games were Super Mario, Pilotwings, MK Trilogy, Wave Race, Extreme G, Star Fox and Cruisn USA. Not sure how I got Cruis’n USA, weather someone bought it for me as a gift or I asked for it but I recall being so excited for N64 and it’s 3D graphics and gameplay that I assumed any game on N64 will be awesome to have since I enjoyed everything I had the opportunity to play and even by word of mouth at school. Well, Cruisn USA was the least I played from my batch of games I got and there wasn’t much games to choose from upon release. I recall playing it and thinking “that’s it? That’s all Cruisn USA has to offer? I even felt disappointed that I could have gotten a better game in its place lol. it was an exciting time. All the games had many ads and well marketed especially on mags. I still recall the huge hype with Mario and Star Fox then Zelda. Cruisn USA was the least game I played on N64 I believe because there was not much to it or substance for me. There was no strategy or action, no gameplay no tasks or missions to consider nor difficulty to undertake. Just graphics to look at and speed along with nothing to do and it got boring. Now Extreme G and Diddy Kong Racing are badass racing games. Besides the graphics, music and gameplay, there was action and missions to advance in game and keep you entertained and glued. Diddy Kong had the adventure element as well which made it a bigger game then just racing like Mario Kart. Played the shit out of Diddy Kong and Banjo Kazooie

Who knew that Mount Rushmore was a small hill in Arizona right outside of the Grand Canyon on the left side of the 4 lane freeway that cuts through the "small" canyon itself. I also love how right outside of the "Grand Canyon" in this game there's desert with saguaro cacti but... THE GRAND CANYON ISN'T IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT IN REAL LIFE! It's in northern AZ in the high elevation near the cold mountain city of Flagstaff where there's evergreen pine trees everywhere and it's a snowy winter wonderland(actually is 2nd most snowy city in the country according to Google). Basically the exact opposite of being in the desert. 🤣 lol Being someone born and raised in Arizona who owned this game as a kid, how tf did I not notice these hilarious geographical inaccuracies? I love it though. And the music still brings me right back.

Man the pop in frame rates were just so brutal. I remember playing this game for 3 hours straight and then having hockey practice.
