O dam i want me some Mongolian wrestling boots! 😄I love the chanting in the back ground. is it all from a sound system or is there any live? its all really so beautiful. you can almost imagen the days of the great Khans, there would be a LOT more horses, and people. the smell would be just incredible... and there would likely be lots of drinking and drunkenness too I recon. Have you tried the alcohol they make from horse milk? The vast open steppe is just mind boggling even on camera... must be magical. BTW if you have not read 'Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World' By Jack Weatherford YOU JUST GOT TOO MAN!! And right now while your there! Its one of my favourite history books. Highly recommended!! ❤🙏

The song to call the wrestlers to the field used to be live singers back in the day but these days it's one speakers... Yes naadams back then were massive national games plus political stuff, would be awesome to see.. I have had Airag, I like it. And yes I've read the book, it's a good read

Өвөр Монголд байна, looks like in inner Mongolia the minority nation in the chinese autonomous region. Independent Mongolia is in north of this inner Mongolia, they are related ethically and culturally just become part of China

So awesome! I wish I could visit. What languages do they speak there? Would English and Mandarin be enough to communicate to learn Mongolian wrestling?

They speak Mongol and many can speak some Mandarin... and you know, maybe in the future there'll be a way for foreigners to come train and compete... I'm going to hopefully help Lavell Marshall and Coach Hohoo make the dream happen!

Back in graduate school, some Mongolian classmates told me closest language to theirs is Russian, yet it sounds like Korean to me…

@@user-mo8hk7vh9g Mongolian has a lot of Russian loanwords but it's NOT a Slavic language at all. As for Korean ...IF they're related it's a very very old relation , they can occasionally sound similar but aren't closely related.
