We are so lucky to be born when Lata Didi was alive and are able to enjoy her songs. Didi has sung over 35000 songs in over 20 languages. No one in history has sung so much and with such perfection and with this much flexibility over languages. Truly a God Maa Saraswati in human form. Her loss is tragic for the entire population of this country and fans all over the world

This used to be one of my grandma’s favorite songs. Although, this song used to the last song on our cassette tape and since we had an old recorder/player, the tape used to get stuck when this song’s turn would come. My grandma used to wake me up and ask me to remove the cassette and put the tape back and I used to listen to this song while placing my head on her lap. Gone are those days of tape recorders, cassettes and some melodies like these, and my grandma is no more. Life changed. For good or for bad? I don’t know. :)

Every time, I listen this song, it gives me goosebumps, my eyes get Numm and Watery. I was fortunate to attend a small function where Lataji was chief guest. I felt same when I saw her. "Maa Saraswati" resides in her voice. We feels that she is singing even when she talks. Those days are gone when Hindi/Urdu Music was (I mean creativity wise) at its Cresendo or Peak. Nowadays, With Technological advancement we can record music and play it anywhere but the actual content of music (I mean soul) missing. What we have now is just shear Noise! I used to wait for these songs like this one or many other classics of Gulzar saab/ Pancham Da during doordarshan and akashvani era. I recall I would turn on my radio around 12.25 as around 12.30PM it would start playing songs ..then I would wait for these kind of songs to come in Chitrahaar on Doordarshan.. those superb advertisements in between these songs .. ah so many memories of those old days that will never come back :(
