How Jérémy Doku Became the Next Best Winger in Football

Jeremy Doku right now is taking the premier league by storm and the way he has performed for Manchester City has left us flabbergasted seriously. When he was playing for Rennes in Ligue 1 he was a good and raw winger and due to his inconsistent and proneness to injury there were doubts about how he would settle in the premier league not to mention they paid 60 million for him and right now he has been a 9/10. His style of play is reminiscent of his compatriot Eden Hazard and what Jeremy Doku does with the ball at his feet he is just so special with his electrifying pace excellent touch ridiculous skills and dribbling etc and he has the potential to get even better and he’s still in his early 20s. At Manchester City he has 3 goals and 6 assists and in one premier league game for them he had a goal and 4 assists and it makes guys like Antony look embarrassing because Manchester United paid 100 million for him and he looks like a championship level player. Meanwhile Jeremy Doku has been the real deal and his stellar performances have kept Jack Grealish out of the team a player who played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s treble win last season and it speaks volumes about how star studded they are and how good he has been. He’s a direct winger who is always trying to take risks and whenever he has the ball he gets the fans off of their seats and right now at Manchester City on current form he’s one of the first names on the team sheet and is playing well enough in that left wing position. I know the Belgium Golden Generation underperformed and consistently came up short in international tournaments but this guy has a bright future in the national team as well. He’s been an excellent signing and it’s great to see Manchester City have a proper and direct winger who’ll take risks and be impactful in the final third and with the confidence he has in his game he makes defenders look silly and they cannot stop him. This team for god sake keep getting all of this talent.

Stade Rennais' supporter here. Like you said, Doku struggled with injuries for quite a long time, but his performances were also mid-satisfying. It was obvious that his technique, ball touch, and acceleration are unbelievable, but for a long time he seemed to have been playing for himself. He might have been _too_ fast for his team mates actually... It's only in the second half of 2022-23 season that he took his share in the collective. Somehow he understood of to use his dribbling skills and explosivity for the benefit of the team. When he starts dribbling, the only way to stop is to make a fault. I wish the best for him!

Hazard was one of those players who had the magic talent, the X-factor in them. It's a shame he wasn't too keen on work ethics. But looking back, what matters is that he had fun being on the pitch and entertained people for so many years. He would probably have won many more things and accolades if he tried hard, but Hazard didn't want that, he just wanted to have fun on the pitch.At the end of the day, it's all that really matters.

Small error in the video: At first in the Anderlecht academy, a lot of the coaches thought he was good but not good enough to make it pro, he was also by far not the best in the academy, with players like Lavia taking that crown. When he started to reach 15, 16, his hard work and talent really started to show and people took notice.

Jeremy Doku’s start to life at Manchester City has been very impressive but I think he can still improve on some glaring flaws if he is to realize his full potential. I think defensively he needs to track back a little more in modern day football everyone including wingers and forwards have to track back press and fulfill their defensive role helping out their fullback when needed and his decision making can still improve. As good of a winger he is when it comes to dribbling and taking on defenders since he plays on Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, there are moments where he has to cut down his individual brilliance and try to help the team out. He can balance his individual ability while still trying to help his team I’m basically saying that he has a tendency to lose the ball a lot and he was dropped for the Arsenal game and the Manchester derby due to his amazing form he started against Liverpool and Chelsea. Who knows this could be a reason why Manchester City sold both Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling great wingers but lost the ball too much and didn’t fulfill their roles defensively which caused a frustrations from Pep Guardiola. As he grows and develops he’ll be unstoppable when he improves his decision making while also being able to dribble create chances and run at defenders. The sky is the limit for Jeremy Doku at Manchester City and he’ll go right to the very top if he stays grounded and focused.
