The 24-inch nabi BigTab HD from Fuhu is a big tablet that's built for collaboration and group play. With a 24-inch screen, this is, obviously, not a portable tablet you'll slip in a bag. But, like a TV or computer monitor, it's one that will likely stay in one place and be shared by the whole family. It comes in a handy-and necessary-frame that makes it slightly more portable and allows it to stand up for play. Out of the box, set up was easy, including connecting to WiFi.
As with the smaller nabi DreamTab, the nabi BigTab combines sophisticated technology that will be seamless for kids who have played with "grown up" tablets, and it has tons of content, plus the ability to be adapted to a real tablet. It features a protected parent area, where they can use the BigTab to its full capabilities, while controlling all content for their kids by setting time limits and giving kids a completely safe web environment. As kids becomes more mature and able to deal with more sophisticated programs, the tablet can be opened up to do more accordingly.
The BigTab comes preloaded with lots of content including Two Play classic games, such as checkers and chess, as well as the DreamPro Studio Suite of apps, which let kids draw, animate, and create their own digital works of art. The tablet's big size makes it great for two kids to play at once. The controls are intuitive and easy to use, and while our efforts were decidedly mediocre, it's clear that kids who want to invest the time can create some great stuff. There are also two-player and four-player games and a variety of ways to engage, especially if you want to do things like play Fruit Ninja on the largest screen yet. The large screen is also built for entertainment, and the nabi BigTab come preloaded with Show Time, a collection of movies, music, ebooks, and apps from Disney, DreamWorks, and Cookie Jar Entertainment.
