These lessons are a generous way to share conducting expertise, very clearly explained and delivered by a pro.

Hey all! Please note that you need to NOT mirror but oppose his movements! DOWN - RIGHT , NOT DOWN -LEFT in 2, and so on!

Hi there. I realy aprreciate your videos and tutorials for they are easy to practise. But what I miss(ed) in the second/third video when talking about differenciation of the sole movements/ active, passive and so on... is HOW TO CUNDUCT BREAKS from FULL NOTE MEASSURE TO 1/16. I mean; of course I have to count them like played notes, but HOW DO I COMMUNICATE IT withe baton or the left hand????

Hello Maestro I am from Texas. I truly enjoy your teaching. Thank you. I am left -handed, I am trying to use my right hand more but its difficult. Any thoughts on this?

Hi Ezequiel - thank you for your question. Firstly, you can simply invert everything that I am talking about and so use the baton in the left hand. Donald Runnicles is an example of a conductor who does this to great effect. If you would however prefer to keep the baton in the right hand, then I would recommend giving yourself a little more time to become accustomed to it. Start off with the coordination exercises that I talk through and allow your mind to internalise the gestures completely. Whether beating with your left or right hand it will become necessary for the movements to become second-nature so that you have the mind free to listen and lead - it is a demanding but rewarding journey for everyone, no matter which hand is dominant. Good luck!

There are not conducting techniques. There is a language for the real time performance that uses oscillatory continuous movement in order to register the rhythm and all the fluctuations of sounds, under different tension and intensity. Which also reflect the plasticity of the emotions with different characters. It is a language and does not belongs to conductors. Belongs to the music performance. Take care of your movements because you are using them wrong. Im telling you is not I have a technique you have a technique... it is not subjective. It is a propper language of the movement and you are using the basic wring. With luck of coherence between them, saying something and doing other thing... they are not logical with contradictions to show the equal parameters that different beats can express

@@jacobhogeterp9089 conducting is an oscillatory dance that corresponds to the music. You do it with your body and its speed, specially the continuous speed changes sets the timing. You need to find the correct dance to each particular music in order to give with the best personality, and you d it with the oscillatory dance of your body. Its not a conducting technique, its a dance that every musician should practice. If someone like this guy want to teach that movement that correspond with the music as conducting technique, at least should care about the correspondence of the movement that is doing and what he is saying that the movement is doing, which this guy is missing many times. Any case It would be better to say the movement of the music than conducting.
