I wonder how much Murray's forehand technique contributed to his hip injury. He has a tendency to hit his forehand off his hip, while falling off the ball. Ends up using a lot of arm in it too.

Nadal and Murray barely met at all between 2012-16 (aside from clay) which would have probably have helped Murray in the h2h.
@gherbihicham85064 жыл бұрын
Nah probably worsened it for him imo, Nadal was killing it on hard courts from 2010-2014 before the injury and chances are they would meet in more Hard court matches which Nadal would have easily won (he was unbeatable on Hard courts in 2013) , even in 2015 on Nadal's worst season he still managed to get a win vs Murray on Hard courts. They still met 4 times in 2015/2016 which is arguably Nadal's worst period on the tour and Murrays absolute best; their h2h at that time: 2-2.
@SJ-di5zu4 жыл бұрын
First half of 2012 Nadal was pretty scary. Luckily for everyone else, he got injured and ended his season after an early Wimbledon loss. Murray wouldn’t have stood a chance against that freight train. In 2013 Nadal had an excellent year and would’ve beaten Murray on any hard court, but Murray never made it to Rafa. Rafa won IW, Montreal, Cincinnati, and the US Open that year beating Djokovic and Federer multiple times. In 2014 at the AO Murray lost to Federer who got crushed by Rafa in straights. Then Rafa dismantled Murray at the French, but again got injured. Murray and Nadal played 4 times in 2015-16, 3 times on clay and one indoors. Murray went 2-1 on clay but Rafa won the indoors (6-4 6-1, not that close) so 2-2 those years, which were Rafa’s worst. Safe to say, this H2H would be looking a lot worse for Murray if they met more in that stretch you mentioned. I’d say something like 24-8 or so
@handzar64023 жыл бұрын
@@SJ-di5zu Those are all very convenient stats. What you neglect to mention is that Murray was injured after 2013 so it doesn't matter. If they had met in 2012/13 in hard, Murray would've almost certainly taken some matches off Nadal, even on hard courts. That's a fact.
@anubhav1111962 жыл бұрын
@@handzar6402 you can't say it's a fact, it's just an assumption, murray wouldn't have defeated nadal in 2013, that is for sure, nadal 2013 us hard court swing was insane, maybe in 2012 murray would've won, but not very sure about it

Because the gap between him and the others is also big, so while he isn't at the same level as the big 3 he's better than everyone else, plus he's the only one to defeat these guys on a regular basis, he has an 11-14 vs Federer which is a pretty decent h2h, and has defeated prime Djokovic in two slam finals, Nadal is better vs Murray than the other two overall but he still lost some important matches vs him.
@joshjones50624 жыл бұрын
It came about as Murray was the only one challenging the big 3 and 2011-2013 Murray was matching the consistency of reaching later stages of events finally winning slams and the Olympic Gold. It a shame Murray had so much rotten luck with injuries as end of 2013 he had reached 4 slams final in a row in events he played. he was part of the big 4 again in 2016 when he virtually reached every final from March that year and secured year end number 1 no other player outside big 3 has been number 1 except Murray. Careers as whole he not part of the Big 4 only a Big 3 but consistency at events is where the phrase came about.

For the record, Sir Andrew Baron Murray was always a better grass court player than Nadal. Nadal mainly won because of the mental game. On a technical level, it was not even close. Don't be blinded by the Spaniards run of finals. He got lucky because of court homogenization, a mono Fed and very lucky early round wins. Murray is 2-0 vs prime Djokovic on grass. Nadal is 0-1 vs prime and 0-1 vs post prime Djokovic. The only time Nadal beat him in a grass slam was a match that the Serbian retired from after 1 set all between the pair. Murray also beat Fed in the OG match on grass; something Nadal was never able to do. Simply put, Murray reached a higher level on grass that Nadal never has, nor ever will reach. Let us also not forget Nadals horrible patch from 2012 to 2017 Wimbledon, with 2nd round, 1st round, 4th round, 2nd round and 4th round losses respectively. Why did this happen and why did Nadal always struggle in the earlier rounds on grass? He sucks on the surface and is vastly overrated due to the illusion of court homogenization.
@PaulMansell-z9l Жыл бұрын
Rafa beat Roger Federer on grass in 2008 when Roger was in his prime. Rafa is also a greatly underrated volleyer & Murray while having certain technical advantages could not use them effectively against Rafa because he didn't use the net game enough. Rafa was a better player than all of the other members of the big four from the back of the court until 2011 when Djoker trumped him, except on clay. You also have failed to reference Rafa's knee problems which inhibited him at Wimbledon from 2012 to 2017 with the exception perhaps of 2014 and 2017 itself. Homogenization of the courts is one of the most overused arguments & frankly it was more about the fact that Roger Federer's natural game is from the back of the court & the other top players being the same that allowed great baseliners to win Wimbledon. Rafa's mental game was and is undeniable, but he also had underrated technical skills as well as touch and power, plus incredible athleticism & fitness. You don't make 5 finals in a row, beat Murray 3/3, Federer 1/2 & Djoker 1/2 unless you are a great grass court player. Rafa won two of these titles & his semi-final runs in recent years from 2018, 2019 & 2022 suggest you are talking anti-Rafa Nadal gibberish.
