Whew, I don’t do anything on this list. Dodged a bullet. Women really do age themselves with these things. The more natural and effortless, the better. A dewy glow, a pale lip and nail polish, hair that is healthy and shiny, solid color clothes that drape beautifully, in natural fibers…these are goals IMHO.

One caveat - workout sneakers work great for knee, foot, & back problems, especially for us ladies who wear size 10 shoes or larger. Orthopedic inserts don’t fit in tinier shoes. Most nicer women’s shoes don’t have a large enough toe box for bunions or wider feet. I had to wear sneakers to work & everywhere else when I tore my meniscus. The only other alternative may be men’s shoes. I’ll suffer with dressier shoes when I dress up but I can’t walk far in them (even flats or low heels) which is very restrictive for us active folks.

Some women suit a bright red lip and some women don't.. It's just that simple. It's has to suit your personality. I would say that many middle-aged women suit a softer lip suits them, while a bold lip often suits a more senior-aged woman. That being said, Nada suits the red lip because it suits her personality.. there are always exceptions.

When you age, your teeth and lips age along with you. Nothing attractive about red lipstick on yellowed teeth and wrinkled lips
@MrClarkwh5 ай бұрын
Bright red lipstick certainly works well for so many people think it really depends on your skin color. I love a certain red lipstick on myself. It works for me and right now. I'm in an area where there's a lot of more brownish skin people. My husband is getting surgery and a Mexican hospital and everyone almost is wearing bright red and it's gorgeous. I think it really depends on the skin color.
@NadaManley5 ай бұрын
Great question. You have to pick a lip shade that flatters you. I look dead in neutral shades, and very dark matte shades are aging on me. A classic red lip can work on many women, but we all have to pick what suits us. I do color analysis on all of my clients and help them choose lip colors that make their teeth look white and make them look bright and fresh. :)

Hi. Thanks for the tips. I do agree with the white soles looking better than the beige color ones- but, I’m recently traveled and knew I would be doing a lot of walking in the city and countryside. I specifically did not want to wear shoes with the white soles because I didn’t want the dirt from the city streets/sidewalks and from the gravel/dirt country roads/paths “showing up” on the white soles. Well- I couldn’t find the beige color sole shoes I wanted for my vacation and ended up purchasing a $5 pair of white sole shoes from Walmart (clearance) for the trip. Surprisingly, I wore these while soled shoes almost every day and am still wearing them months after my trip! Not only did the white soles hold up well to “dirt (not showing)” but those $5 clearance shoes (which I was fully expecting to throw away when I got home from my trip) are so comfortable and still so clean! I am simply amazed!

I’m in my sixties and I agree with your recommendations. Recently I ran across a pair of pretty cropped pants I wore in my thirties. I thought they might be wearable now. I’ve learned so much since wearing these type pants so when I tried them on again I was appalled when I saw how they looked on me. I find I like certain styles that are classic plus somewhat relaxed..everyday and special events. Recently while waiting to get into a country music concert, I started doing a little people watching! I saw so many people of all ages that have no idea how bad their outfits looked on them. I can’t believe they looked at themselves in the mirror before they left. I use my husband as a gauge too. I’ve taught him to look at my outfit and give me a second opinion! If I ask for his opinion he’ll tell me what he thinks. He’s usually right! 😂😂😂. When I get it right he says I look great! Who doesn’t like a complement like that? Comfortable shoes are so important as you grow older and I do believe they can be hard to find in cute styles. I think simple is more elegant. I’m from Tennessee and everywhere you go here you will see bleached or dyed short hair with unnatural looking highlights, rhinestones, and lots of capris and other bad choice styles for their skin tone worst of all body type. I used to think people start changing the way they dress when they get older. I’m now older and realize that the ones dressing badly for their body type and skin tone…have never learned how to dress better for their body type and skin tone since they were young. It’s really fun to learn these concept at my age. I know I’m getting it right when my husband and my 24 year old son tell me how great I look without being asked which makes me feel even better that I! Your tips are good ones. I will watch your video on shoes.

I remember, years ago, my young son once said if I wore a certain top he wouldn’t go out in public with me ( he was 7)! I realized I had bought the top at my elderly mother’s insistence. It was a multicoloured wild print, and I realized it was what a woman of a certain age tended to wear! My boy was right, and I still take some advice from him…He is now 24, and if he really likes an outfit he will say “Are you going out? You look great”. I like the opinion of men usually over many women, because they tend to have more classic taste, and are not ‘catty’. They also will say nothing if they don’t like something, where another woman would lie and say I look great when I don’t. Nadia, you give the hard truth to us ❤, and that is why some women get triggered. I appreciate truth, because I really want to look my best, so THANK YOU for your unvarnished truth! lol!

Use hair accessories and swop these around to kind of change the same outfit to a whole new level . Jewellery adds class or depending on the design can make an outfit more casual. Enjoy your own tastes , do not surrender your perfect judgment on what suits you to the fashion monsters that try to trick us all into suddenly the outfit that they told us was the best thing ever is suddenly naff! By all means buy new bits you like but don’t trash the clothes you really love . If they look good on you and you feel good , you’re clearly a great judge of style . Go out , head high , you’re the best already , no need to change .

Oops. I have a pair of khaki “man” pants. I thought they were a way for me to participate in the looser pant trend. Maybe not? Thanks for your videos.

The double layer hem is the worst. This is especially bad for those of us with a larger chest. They add 40 lbs and look like you are wearing a tent. I do disagree about black just bc I am a light olive skin tone. I think it looks great. Not hiding behind it, that I do agree with. It is slimming, but wearing the right style for you in a bright color can be just as slimming.

Hi Nada. This video came up in my feed and I thought I would watch it fully intending to disagree with everything you said about what not to wear over fifty. I'm seventy one in September and I know I don't look my age plus I love fashion. Not fashion trends, fashion that I'm easy with and I won't be told what I can and can't wear lol. Let me say Nada, apart from capri pants, I entirely agree with everything you have said. I think a lot of 'cheap' fashion looks just that, cheap. Now I'm not a designer gear female by any stretch of the imagination but I do like quality, fashionable quality that can be worn by any age. That said, all the taboos you mentioned are my taboos too. I know what suits me and what dusnt. I love wearing black, I don't use it to hide anything, I just love the colour. I also love white but I'm not really a patterned fabric kind of person, I just prefer, for example, a top of only one colour. I abhor logos and will avoid them like the plague though having said that I have two Chanel bags with the logo on display but if I were to wear a shirt or tee shirt, I don't expect the logo to be on the outside, showing itself to the world. You probably won't see my comment but, I've just subscribed to your channel because I like how you put your topic across, not condescendingly, and like I said, apart from the capris, I agree with you ❤

It is definitely not. :) It depends on your hair, your face shape, etc.

@xinexine2785 I hope the _long hair for older women_ rule has been squashed (otherwise, I am terribly out of fashion! 😆) Just turned 58, my hair is less than 10% grey, and long (down to my tailbone). I often wear it as twisted up in a ponytail so it only looks 10" long, and it's secured close to my neck. I've been wearing it this way for the past 3 years. People are surprised when I take my hair out of the ponytail. 😁 My motto that I just made up: _"if you can grow it, why not show it!"_ 😀

I certainly don't live by that rule lol, and I'll soon be seventy one. I just do not suit short hair. I've tried and just looked odd, a frump, so I grew it long again 😊

I like to wear black at night time as soon as your wear a string of good pearls it looks smart but plain black no, I do wear rings on 3 fingers though, I just like certain rings though, also I like a cashmere jumper with linen pants, the pants have an A line shape find they look smart, cant stand Tshirts with logos.
@lobodo9885 ай бұрын
Hahaha! You did your BEST to not say the word "tacky" and you succeeded! So many of those things are just TACKY. Flip flops made "formal" by glitz/glitter is so cringe -- on anyone. They are the bottom of the barrel. BEACH ONLY. The 'slap' noise they make is much too crude for a restaurant or event!

I disagree with everything you said. It truly depend on your personality or body shape. When I was young my dress sense was just awful. It has taken years for me to learn what suits me. Classic is classic whatever.

I just can't get with any sneakers, be they "fashion sneakers" or not, with a dress! There are much nicer shoes to wear with a sun dress or any casual dress. Sneakers with a dress just look lazy to me.

Wear whatever you like at any age and wear it with confidence. But please put some effort into looking nice. It makes you feel good too, and others treat you with more respect. Those are facts.

There is an important issue you are forgetting. For those of us with arthritis (or other medical issues) in our feet we need to have shoes that we can put orthotics in and which have the right side support as well as the proper cushioning. I can’t wear ANYTHING else than these and frankly not crippling myself more is much more important than wearing whatever is the “fashionable” sneakers or other shoes.

I disagree with just about everything said here (except maybe the jewelry at any age). “Over 50” is also too broad. At a certain age, one might say long hair and red lipstick, but I would also disagree with that.

@@michellesapp7867 I definitely agree with your first sentence. I just believe there’s different perspectives on style and especially on beauty as we age. It’s hard to wrap it all into a tidy package. So much of beauty and style is individualized and comes from feeling good about yourself and of course what you’re wearing. I do appreciate that there are people out there to provide guidance.
@wendigo19195 ай бұрын
@@Tutujls The hair length thing is nonsense, and while not everyone can carry off red lipstick, she most certainly can. It's a statement lip, but she has the personality to pull it off.

I agree with everything except for the short pants and long shorts. For me, I like them in the summer because I’m 77, tall (5’10”) slim, and have long legs. I like the inseam on shorts to be at least 9” and slim capris look good on me. I agree that these don't flatter shorter women who are trying to look taller but I'd like to look shorter so I often do the opposite of what shorter influencers recommend. I think the cropped wide-leg pants that are in style right now make shorter ladies look “old lady.”
@karengrohs49425 ай бұрын
I agree. I wear pants that are the same length as my skirts, and it's fine. I think pants that are slim and end just below the knee look perfectly okay.

What a load of shite, don’t be defined by age and these ageist rules. Some women over 50 look better than those in their 20’s. If you love it, then wear what you like.
@wendigo19195 ай бұрын
I'm in my 50's and she gave spot on advice. If you don't agree with it, that's fine. Many women are seeking modern fashion advice and this is very helpful to them. If they weren't seeking advice, they wouldn't watch this video. She said nothing ageist. In fact, you'll notice that she wears her hair quite long which some ageist people think is only for the young. I agree though, wear what you like... Again, in that case, this video is not for those folks.
@kathdarwen53805 ай бұрын
No ageist rules here at all. What is wrong with you!

Why are you watching a fashion advice video if you are saying to wear what you like? She is giving advice to people who don’t know what to wear.
@christinaduncan82855 ай бұрын
Nada, you COULD "wear beige well" IF you got the precise hue for your coloring. Of course there is nothing wrong with getting beige pants in a modern style, but "typical" khaki pants (like you show) are really just a replacement for jeans, when the color of jeans is too warm or the jeans themselves too youthful or heavy looking. If you require a decidedly casual look -- like in all cotton for, say, going to a backyard barbecue -- they're perfect and have remained a classic for 70 years for a reason!
