this guy is on another level with the handpan, so much texture and timbre. As a musician who has listened to hanpans for a decade there are no other handpan composers reaching the technique and flow state like Nadayana. Wow.

This comment is hilarious, he doesn't even come close to comparing to the big guns in the handpan world haha. If you like his compositions, sure, but to say he's even in the top 100 is a massive stretch. His technique (assuming we're using the same definition) is akin to a beginner (very similar to the guys in Hang Massive), and in terms of the flow state, this is basically a joke within the handpan world as well, because EVERYONE tends to do this when they are learning.. flowing around with singles. All that being said, this is the first I've seen of him, and I enjoyed his melodies and composition here, he's doing well, he looks like he's enjoying it, and it seems people are enjoying it too, which is what matters most. Just... watch guys like Tatsunori Hara, Alex Lora, Dan Mulqueen, Ryyusuque Ishida, Adrian Portia, Reo Matsumoto, Mike Akortia, Nadishana, among others if you want to see real high quality players.

@@mikem4161 What a hater. "Akin to a beginner" is so far of a stretch its no offense absurd. Hear me out. Many handpan players like to do a show of skill with fast playing and truly skillfull technique only without the composition controlling timbre and cohesiveness. Not sure that your experience is with music but I am classically trained guitar and there is a big difference between compisitions that showcase skills and ones that take you on a journey. i am familiar with all the players you mention and i still stand by my claim. But its art, everyone can have an opinion and i do agree that hang massive is basic. This is in no way the same type of composition. Kind regards.

@@boattalk1089 No hate meant, speaking freely and correcting is all. You mentioned no other players reach his level of technique as one of your points.. his playing technique is 100% akin to a beginner. It's not meant as a jab or anything either. I've played percussion professionally for nearly a decade now, his technique is simply at a beginner level. Composition is another story, sure. I have this conversation with my pals who are also classically trained as well. It's typically them claiming composition is always most important (far more important than proficiency and ability in playing according to them), which I agree with to a minimal extent, but argue that music needs to be stimulating enough to maintain attention (rhythmic diversity, dynamics, etc..). This where another argument comes in against this guy being "on another level". The flow of the composition and character was nice, there wasn't anything else to stimulate interest though. You've mentioned timbre as well here. I can tell you as someone who's built handpans, and who has multiple endorsements for them, that timbre is not controlled by the player. Dynamics, velocity, sure, but the timbre is inherent to the instrument itself. You can't make a Spacedrum sound like a Veritas or a Yishama. Nor can you really make stainless steel sound like nitrided steel.

@@mikem4161 when I saw ypur comment the 1st thing i thought was chaotic metal music, then i went to your page. Confirmed. There is a reason why this dude is doing well on youtube. Even live stuff is recorded well. There is a full creative process at work with these compositions not just an "amature having a jam session."like many of the artists you mention frequently do. While popularity is not a litmus test for skill and creativity, in this case it is. To say that timbre is not controlled at all by the musician, not even worth the response. Recording process is all part of this equation and obviously something you missed or you dont have good speakers.
