Yeaaaah...You mean Simone Biles the choke artist? Nadia got 2+ individual gold medals in 1976 and 1980. Simone got ZERO golds in 2021 because she is a choke artist. Again, Nadia is the gold standard. Simone got a silver in team in 2021 for one crappy vault in qualification for team. What a joke that was by Team USA trying to give her a gold in team with one crappy vault by her. Thankfully Russia won gold.
@juniorjohnson95092 жыл бұрын
@@nogoodnameleft Unbelievable that there are still idiots like you who claim that Simone choked. You try competing in any sport when your brain has decided to not know where the rest of your body is - a condition called the "twisties". A Russian gymnast became a quadraplegic for life a couple decades ago when, 2 weeks before the Olympics, her coach forced her to continue practicing while she was experiencing the same problem. Simone also is the only gymnast in the world that can do a couple of her stunts, and they are so difficult that the judges refuse to award the difficulty points those stunts deserve so that other gymnasts won't try to do them. Simone has 32 Olympic and World medals - 4 Olympic Golds and 19 Golds in the World Championships, and is the most decorated World gymnast ever, all of them earned in a time where the gymnasts have massively advanced the complexity and difficulty of their sport. Actually, the Olympic Gold standard is Russia's Larisa Latynina, with nine, but she has said that she doubts that she would have ever gone into gymnastics if they were as difficult and dangerous then as they are today.

Nadia's mark of 10 could not be displayed on 1976 monitors as they only allowed 3 digits; they thought nobody would get a 10, so no need for extra digit. Hello! For all those people here, the 10 might just be a number. But the truth is deeper, much deeper. The first perfect 10 in the Cold War. None of you young guys could imagine what that means. None of you can understand what that REALLY REALLY means. The perfect 10 was the openning from the west to the east! Without her performances we would still live in that. She´s the one and only one who made the impossible possible. Done by a young girl. Just because all the judges had to pull the 10. Because she was performing like a dream within a dream. I am from Germany and if I´ll ever match her I´ll sink on my knees, to praise her because she is a goddess. There is no match in history. She is the one and only who made dreams come true. And the dream was to unite east and west. I am thankfull.

NADIA-PERFECT 10!
@trilliane6 жыл бұрын
There were prefect 10s in gymnastics before the 1976 Olympic games and there were after; There are still perfect 10s in non-elite gymnastics (such as collegiate gymnastics at the NCAA); and even in elite, you can still get a 10 for the execution score, at least theoretically. In reality it's so hard that even McKayla Maroney's perfect vault was not graded a perfect E score, but she came really close.
@tusharajoshi16 жыл бұрын
Perfection doesn't mean only sticking the landing without a hop, but the whole execution is observed right from the round off on the mat where the vault begins. In McKayla's case, after the round off, her legs weren't together, a clear leg separation can be seen, her positioning in the air was not very perfect. The only best part of her vault was the landing. I guess this answers why she didn't get a perfect execution score.
@chooseyourpoison51056 жыл бұрын
+Tushar Joshi I would say that she didn't even truly stick the landing - she steps out of it way too early, into the salute in an attempt to cover the fact that she didn't really hold it, not like some of the Chinese gymnasts who will hold it there for several seconds just to drive home that they stuck it. No disrespect intended to Miss Maroney, who performed an extremely good vault and received an enormous score; but it wasn't perfect and so can't be scored as such.
@trilliane6 жыл бұрын
That's not me saying but professionals. She was as perfect as can be, and that was the point of the "10" back then.
@Nina-zm4ej6 жыл бұрын
trilliane Agreed. If that vault had been judged at the Montreal 76 Olympics, she would've gotten a 10. What happens now is that because a gymnast already has a difficulty score, they judge EVERY TINY LITTLE THING in execution.
@susandilaudo95346 жыл бұрын
If my memory is correct, the judges found .3 in deductions for that vault. Idk how, especially when u compare the 2 previous ones by jordyn and gabby. I remember their scores were close. I think they were 15.833 and 15.866....sonething like that, maroney's was around 16.2 something...only .3 better than her teammates? I don't think so. Those judges got that vault score way wrong, or they got the 2 before wrong. Lol....there r certain things about this sport that still irritate me years later.. .like the U.S 4th place finish in '88, and the countless times dominique dawes was underscored;(. Anyway, had to chime in my opinion after reading your comment. Im glad im not the only 1 that still thinks about the way that vault was scored. Lol. Eeerrggg. Ty!

I know I'm late. dont care. I disagree with the last comment, being said that Nadia stands alone. She does not stand alone, she stands Above.

no genius born genius, at 36 mouth they are perfect in what they choose, piano, math, hokey ect ect after if you choose something physical you have to wait for strength and at 12 or 14 they are ready, Naim Süleymanoğlu win gold in 3 Olympic, but in 84 he was too young but he do the competition at local gym in the same time and he win….

@@paperEATER101 Actually, Nadia came from Russian name Nadejda, which means Hope. Nadejda is full name and Nadia is short.

Magistral. Las otras gimnastas del principio, que se ven mayores que Nadia, miran sus ejercicios, seguramente pensando que esta niña nos lo pondrá difícil.

Shirley pilger This is the best pronunciation of her name by a non-native speaker I've heard so far. This is how it is in Romanian.
@user-vg2hv1nl8n6 жыл бұрын
Shirley pilger What do you expect? It's a Romanian last name..it's hard to pronounce since it has an ă in it..and most non-latin language speakers have no idea how to pronounce that

I think, now, the closest to the "perfect 10" that a gymnast can achieve is by getting a 10 in E score.
