I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't wanna know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you those voices soared, higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away....and, for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.

When I was a kid I found a cassette tape walking home from school that had only this song on it. I must have listened to it hundreds of times and never knew the words or composer. Every time I hear this song it gives me such a warm feeling. Such a beautiful song.

It is beyond belief that WQXR would post this without listing their entire names. It is their vocal talent on display. And then the non sequitur about Richard Tucker award. Did one or both win this award? What in the world. NADINE SIERRA. RACHEL WILLIS-SORENSON.

Remains one of my favorite duets in Buffa to this day. I return over and over to it when I want to hear sublime beauty. (and by the way - for those that don't know the opera - The Countess is dictating a letter to Sussana to trick the count - but the undertone is just how much she still loves him, cad that he is, and as she says with memories of the first love - he will understand). God I love it!

The fact is that I had been listening to classical songs from our local radio stations when I was a little boy... Not hearing any word wasn't an issue, I only cared about the sounds from the background. Not knowing the composer, was never, an issue but the voices from the oratorio. Growing up to finding the likes of Pavarotti and Bocelli and etc from the Internet gave me a relief. Till this moment, from my phone to my home and car, all I listen to is songs of this nature. The likes of Bartoli and Fleming, Mary Poppins ( Julie Andrew), Beethoven, Pachelbel's Canon, Handel, Mozart etc... Give me excess of these songs 🎵 I am well pleased. Blessings 🙌

Perfect. Genius Mozart. I love this duet so much. Contessa and Susanna's voices should always share this kind of compatible warmth. It helps to justify the plot they're hatching to expose Il Conte. Bravissimi.

Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
