Naevius One: The most advanced european SAR UAV

When ambition meets engineering, this is the outcome after 6 months of sole research. With no capital or knowledge prior, anything can be possible as long as you have sufficient discipline in doing so.
That is the message i am trying to convey with my youtube series, where im openly showing my advancements and mistakes in engineering a uav. No place on youtube will show you how the drone world works, in this level of detail.

Would flying so low not mean that signal reaching the UAV is weaker as it has to penetrate longer path through snow? Seems like there is a limit to how flying lower gives you more range.

Great point! I’ve been thinking about that recently as well, and we’ve looked at multiple possible solutions to this. So to be clear, the drone can fly for 80 km meaning 35 km to the site, 10 km for the search, and 35 km back. However in terms of the actual applications of the drone we can’t confirm yet if it will need this kind of range. This has to do with potential roadblocks from EU drone regulations, and them not allowing beyond line of sight flight without certain certification from the pilot. However if we cannot achieve a stable connection, the drone is fully autonomous. The only worry would be sending the signal for when someone is being found, which probably needs a reliable fail safe anyways. We are considering an additional antenna drone to connect both ends together, or 4g sim if coverage is good. However we might look into more options like satellite communications.

Hello, just wondering if countries would be allowed to purchase this and if they could be used for other uses alongside helping find people in avalanches.

We are open to doing business with any non sanctioned country, as well as for other uses. The uav is configured to be perfect for search and rescue and we plan to make more modules on this platform for different types of search and rescue. As for malicious purposes, the flight characteristics do not fit malicious activities well as far as i am aware. however using it to scan areas for the presence of people would be useful when doing tests with military equipment, or for other military surveillance purposes.

My main inspiration was that I want to do something cool and challenging and saw that video of a Chinese UAV manufacturer making carbon fibre panels. Long term interests combined for endless motivation and ambition. It seems to work out well
