It would be interesting to add the history of this tune. It is actually the Turkish tune 'Ishkedar'.

The melody Uskudar (Üsküdar'a gider iken), has been sung in the languages of the entire Balkan region and claimed by the respective communities. Uskudar is known as the urban song from Istanbul and has gone through various stages in its more than 100-year history. Istanbul in the 19th century is considered a possible point of origin of the song. The song spread beyond the geographic area of its early documentation to other provinces of the Ottoman Empire - such as Greece and the Balkan Peninsula - and also reached Eastern Europe. In addition, the melody was able to spread to the entertainment industry in the USA in the 20th century. The song is an example that urban melodies of different ethnic origins have been common throughout the Balkan region and have undergone various transformations. "Der Terk in America" - Yiddish "The Turkish in America" - English "Der Türke in Amerika" - German

For someone who wishes to see in depth this case of the "wandering" of the melody should definitely, on the one hand, watch Adela Peeva's documentary "Whose is this song?" (2003) and to study, on the other hand, the detailed article by Donna Buchanan (2007) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmmvo5Z9fK95gtU Yours sincerely
