Tobirama as a very fast thinker, he adapts to situations at lighting speed, he is always thinking of something and analyzing the situation all the time to come up with a better strategy. If Boruto sheds some light on Tobirama a bit more with his moves n all of that, that would be amazing to see Tobirama be given more power. If he gets to mark nagato which he easily can as nagato has an interval before he can use shinra tensei, which is more than enough time gap for tobirama to teleport and cut his neck off. The Kakashi who was way way way slower than tobirama was able to capitalise on that interval and would've destroyed tendo if not for the Ashura path. Say that nagato is stronger and faster than the diva and the Ashura path, nagato still scales up only close to war arc Kakashi in terms of speed as he wasn't even able to dodge the totsuka blade of Itachi. Now tobirama is a thousand times faster than that with flying raijin. Even izuna who was the most proficient with the sharingan second to only madara was unable to react to tobiramas speed. There is no chance for nagato to even think about reacting to tobirama forget countering it.

Also kinkaku and ginkaku had 18 other S class shinobi with them when they fought and killed tobirama. One S class shinobi actually managed to destroy the whole of konoha village. So fighting 18 S class shinobi and 2 jinchuriki level shinobi alone is no joke. Also people downplay that tobirama like got stomped in that fight which is clearly proved wrong in the anime. Kakuzu when he got reanimated tells that he saw kinkakus rage last time when he saw ginkaku being bodied by tobirama. So if tobirama had started to bully ginkaku around, then he had most probably killed atleast half of the whole platoon by then. That is no fucking joke. Kitsuchi's earth style which could like stop the gedo statue for sometime could do nothing to kinkaku in his transformed state. Kinkaku and ginkaku were defeated in the cheapest way they could in the war and that doesn't mean u can power scale tobirama with that shit. Tobirama managed to get EMS sasuke pee in his pants by just flexing his chakra.

Hard but respectful disagree, Tobirama slays. When Juubito first shows up, after Hashirama's Gracious Deity Gates fail to contain him, Juubito runs through Hashirama's wood clone and Tobirama before KCM 1 Naruto could react. As it turns out, Tobirama managed to place four paper bombs and a flying raijin seal on Juubito in this time frame, and detonates the paper bombs to stun him. Hashirama's wood clone then uses Wood Style to wrap around Juubito and Tobirama uses the Tandem Paper Bombs jutsu. While this doesn't destroy Juubito, it does destroy what the three of them were standing on, one of the Gracious Deity Gates Hashirama created earlier to restrain the Ten Tails. These Gates survived the Ten Tails' Biju Bomb going off in the four crimson ray barrier, which a couple of characters noted rebounded enough to scorch Ten Tails, and by extension the gates. In short: Tobirama's fast enough to react to and counterattack Juubito in a timeframe KCM Naruto couldn't follow and strong enough to destroy a gracious deity gate which could survive an attack from the Ten tails (sure, it wasn't a direct attack on one of the gates, and the ten tails was being restrained by the gates already, but it's still the Ten Tails). As for intelligence/jutsu, Tobirama comes out on top as well. He and Nagato both have statements that say they've mastered every chakra transformation while only being shown using one, but between the two, I feel much more comfortable saying that Tobirama is overall more proficient. He lived longer, created three completely disconnected but extremely powerful jutsu as an example of his knowledge of the Ninja arts, and his protege Hiruzen knows every jutsu in the Leaf Village (not saying Tobirama's better in that regard, there only so much "he lived in Hashirama's shadow so he's in series overlooked for hype" I'm willing to go). Plus, Nagato got to that mastery thanks to the Rinnegan, while Tobirama mastered all 7 changes on his own, which implies but doesn't really confirm that he may know more. Plus, just to demonstrate Tobirama's resourcefulness, observational skills, and versatility in a fight, I'll just list off a good portion of the strategies he uses and observations he notes while fighting Juubito. Hashirama's sealing attempt fails, so he tries to brute force him with Tandem Paper Bombs. He didn't expect that to work, so he placed a flying raijin seal on Juubito just to be safe. He later notices the exploding truth seeking ball Juubito pinned to Minato, and immediately has a shadow clone teleport it back to Juubito. This fails because the truth seeking balls can be used defensively. He then takes advantage of Naruto and Sasuke's frontal assault to synch up his and Minato's flying raijin jutsus, land Juubito directly in front of Naruto and Sasuke's attack, and separate him from the truth seeking balls. This doesn't work, but the time lapse allows Tobirama to notice that Minato's arm hasn't grown back, cluing him into the fact that truth seeking balls nullify all ninjutsu, including Edo regenerating. Then, a stray attack from Gamakichi (whom he describes as a MT. Myoboku toad, further showing his wealth of knowledge) helps Tobirama discover the senjutsu vulnerability. What this horribly unsubtle fanboying is meant to convey is that Tobirama is insanely intelligent, and wouldn't have much trouble quickly uncovering the Rinnegan abilities. He can easily use shadow clones or the flying raijin jutsu to prevent himself from getting hurt much, and he has far too much chakra for Nagato to be able to siphon off a meaningful amount quickly. TL;DR: Tobirama has upper tier Biju levels of power, is one of the fastest non Six Paths characters in both field mobility and combat speed, and has a crazy wealth of knowledge to draw from. Nagato kinda doesn't stand much of a chance.

Jesus Christ the Hokage Minato would win with high difficulty. Better FTG and Sage Mode, along with toad summons pretty much stop Tobirama. There's also some weird abilities Minato has that could theoretically be game changers. 1.) His long range water Justus get reflected via space time barrier (FTG). Pretty sure Minato could do this with ease considering he reflected a 100% nine tails Bijuu bomb easily. Tobirama doesn't pack that much of a punch. 2.) Rasengan stomps any of Tobirama's CQC jutsus. 3.) Minato is faster physically, has better body flicker and better developed and faster use of FTG (all admitted by Tobirama). His reaction feats are also on par if not superior to Tobirama. But his FTG is better in the sense that the pre tagged kunai allow Minato greater mobility and insane shadow clone combos Tobirama is not capable of. 4.) Toad Summons can hold off fodder Edo Tensei. But Edo Tensei needs prep and you'd have to grant Tobirama prep time for such a fight. The Edo tenseis may not be as developed as Oro's or Kabuto's as well as all that was ever stated was that Tobirama created the jutsu - not how much he perfected it (just like Minato clearly mastered FTG and how Naruto mastered Shadow Clones, both of which Tobirama created) That being said there is also Minato's Contract Seal which cut Obito's control of the nine tails so theoretically he could cancel the control Tobirama has over the Edo Tensei. 5.) Sage Mode. Not much needed to be said. Just makes Minato more durable, stronger, faster, and improves his sensory and reaction abilities to insane levels. And he can activate this literally in seconds. 6.) Reaper Death Seal can turn this into a draw if need be. Should also add Minato has insane chakra feats. The dude isn't getting outlasted by Tobirama just because he's a Senju. Both are intelligent and tactical so no ones pulling some out of their ass batman level shit either.

Dude, it's always a pleasure to listen to your musings, but you downplayed Tobirama. First of all, it is important to remember that Shinra Tensei has a 5 second cooldown, during which Tobirama can blitz Nagato with either teleportation or his paper bombs. Shinra Tensei is not instantenious, it's been shown to spread like a wave, whereas teleportation is instant. Throw in a few shadow clones that can teleport and suicide with multiplying paper bombs and boom - Nagato is suddenly on defence. Second of all, it is silly to assume that Tobirama - a genius who created multiple techniques and who spent his youth fighting a clan which was all about ocular powers didn't know the Bringer-of-Darkness Technique. For all we know he was the one who created that technique to slaughter Uchihas left and right. It's been shown in Kakashi's fight against Zabuza that chakra-based mist hinders Sharingan useless - I don't see why the complete darkness wouldn't work on Rinnegan (upon reviewing this point, I realize that Nagato would either see through it or suck it in, depending on whether it's a genjutsu or ninjutsu. Still, I believe it was worth mentioning). Third, let's see what can Nagato use against Tobirama: - Shinra Tensei - countered by teleportation - Bansho Tenin - countered by teleportation - Asura Path - countered by teleportation (and dodging/replacement techniques. I also imagine that Tobirama would be able to FTG-swap with one of his clones should his situation become dire). - Human Path - countered by teleportation - Chakra Absorbtion - renders water techniques useless, but there are still kunai, sword and explosions. - Animal Path - countered by teleportation - Naraka Path - are you kidding me? So pretty much the only technique that Nagato can use against Tobirama effectively is Chibaku Tensei. At which point it all hinders on two things: - whether Tobirama has a kunai hidden somewhere really far away - whether he has a technique powerful enough to disrupt the gravitational core. Mind you, we don't know how much force is necessary to do that - just because Naruto, Bee and Itachi used their most powerful techniques doesn't mean that it wasn't a total overkill on their part. So, in conclusion, if Tobirama doesn't blitz Nagato early on (which he totally can) than Nagato might recognize the severity of his situation and use Chibaku Tensei, at which point Tobirama might die.

Nagato’s not a complete dumbass, Shinra Tensei can fling around Tobirama’s kunai markings or Bancho Teni’n can even pull in the markings, working it against Tobirama. Also how does teleportation counter Animal Path? He can avoid them, but eventually he’ll have to attack, at which point he gets swarmed. It’ll also get increasingly hard to teleport around with all those eyes watching him. The Asura path can shoot lasers and missiles and stuff, that isn’t really countered by teleportation. I also don’t really see why Tobirama would have any markings placed far away. When he was Hokage he probably placed some around the village, but wouldn’t those be eroded, or would Tobirama even access them anymore? If he can’t, Chibaku Tensei is a huge issue. If he had any large scale jutsu strong enough to destroy that, he undoubtedly would’ve used it against Juubito. Chibaku Tensei completely eliminated any horde of Shadow Clones as well. Tobirama definitely can’t blitz Nagato easily, Nagato keeping up with Killer Bee with tailed beast cloak, not even taking into account Shinra Tensei (which stopped Sage Naruto blitz). FTG is definitely necessary to blitz Nagato early on, and he might not have set it up yet. By the way, Bringer of Darkness is anime only, non canon.

It is also worth noting that combat speed or reaction speed is different from travel speed. While Tobirama, Naruto and Raikage have insane travel speed, they don't necessarely have super high reactions, and that all you need in Naruto to counter an ability. Now they all have above average reaction speed, no doubt but all kage+ fighter have about the same reaction feats and Nagato is, if not above kage+ level fighter. He is not winning any foot races against KCM Naruto but he can fight him no problem.

Really hard to say, If we're going by Hashirama and Madara when they originally fought against each other then I would say that Hashirama stomps because Madara probably doesn't have access to the Ninetails during this battle since it's inside Naruto and because Thousand Armed Kan'on is OP. Jiraiya vs Itachi is nigh impossible to determine although Itachi has an edge (obviously) because Uchiha hax. Then again Itachi did choose to bolt when faced with Jiraiya in Part 1 so this could go either way. I'm assuming Naruto v Sasuke when Sasuke has access to EMS and Naruto has access to regular Sage Mode and Ninetails Chakra Mode. In that case... Naruto demolishes. See, Sasuke doesn't have access to other tailed beasts in this fight whereas Naruto and Kurama are basically one package not to mention that Sage Mode allowed Naruto to match Sasuke when he had access to all other Tailed Beats. I'd say without them Sasuke is pretty much screwed.

Tobirama wins. He is a brilliant strategist and has shown the ability to analyze his opponents on the fly , such as when he fought jubito. If we assume no Intel, Tobirama would start out with a massive water technique and then chain his techniques from there. He would notice that Nagato would absorb the water style and from that point on only use ninjutsu as a distraction for flying thunder god slash. Sooner than later Nagato will reveal the almighty push and Tobirama is smart enough to figure out the 5 second weakness similar to how Kakashi did. Then it's only a matter of time before he sneaks Kunai or any arbitrary tagged object near Nagato so that he can force close quarters combat after baiting out almighty push.

First of NOWHERE it's said or led to believe that Nagato is particularly good at strategy/tactics, especially compared to an absolute monster like Tobirama who makes up great tactics on the fly and has created a shitload of techs from zero. Bansho Tenin you say? Oh too bad Tobirama can just FTG away whenever he wants. And Chibaku Tensei is utterly useless against people who can basically teleport at will. A "taijutsu master" is just cute, he's nowhere particularly good at Taijutsu either, not compared to other ninjas in his tier (like Tobirama). All I see is a fanboy's general talk, no real argument being made. My point is that they both have the means to kill each other, but Tobirama is way smarter and would just outplay Nagato.

I think your underestimating “ Bringer of Darkness” genjutsu. Given Tobirama’s history of fighting Uchiha as well as he fact that the jutsu’s main purpose is to blind people I have difficulty believing that Nagato’s rinnegan can just see through it as if it isn’t there. Plus this genjutsu would pair very well with FTG as it would blind the opponent and make it easier for Tobirama to blitz without the risk of a counter-attack. But in the end I do believe Nagato would win with a bit of difficulty

I actually think that the multiplying explosive tags jutsu might be key to defeating Nagato since it lasts quite long and shinra tensei has the three second cooldown. If the explosion cannot be absorbed then teleportation and tags might be the way to go.
