What would the benifit of this be, Over conventional baleing with a tractor?
@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
The grass is chopped finer than a conventional baler can do, even though balers have knifes (crop cutter). Some farmers prefer fine chopped grass and that's where this combination comes in handy. Same with straw, some farmers prefer fine chopped straw, and a forage harvester can chop it finer than a conventional baler can do. It's a bit hard to see on a photo or video, but if you're up close next to a bale, you can clearly see the difference.

nagd2010 : how come short chopped bales don't fall apart. have they got some net around them put on by baler?
@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
No, they don't use a net or something, they just look like any ordinary big bale, except you the grass is clearly chopped in smaller bits. I guess it has something to do with the settings of the baler (more compression I guess). When they change crop (straw > hay > hemp, or even maize) usualy the first bale coming out does fall apart, then they change some settings on the baler (not sure what exactly, I just watch from a distance), and then the bales that come out afterwards are perfectly solid and don't fall apart (at least the grass and straw ones, hemp and maize need more careful handeling).
@herbhouston53782 жыл бұрын
Is this "custom work", or owned by the farmer? Being dry and wrapped, is this to be "stored" outside? I would think that the integrity of the bale would be compromised by all the fibers of the hay being short. How is the feeding process handled? Lastly, how much to own, outright, or to have done?
@nagd20102 жыл бұрын
The machine is owned by a contractor. Usualy these bales are stored outside. About the feeding proces and such...I do not know.

@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
Dankje Nico.
@nicom.m.dejong50166 жыл бұрын
@nagd20106 жыл бұрын

Why do you have the forage harvester to chop the hay? Why can’t you just use the baler like you would regularly do?
@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
Even with modern balers (with cropcutter and such) the product is still rougher (not sure if that is the correct term, I can't come up with a more proper term in English for it ) than the product that this combination makes. There is clearly a difference between chopped bales like this, or one from a regular baler. In most situations a normal baler will do the job just fine. But in some cases, farmers prefer a product that has been chopped, and that's where this machine comes in.

@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
A normal baler, even with cropcutter (knifes) can't cut the grass as fine as a forage harvester can. Some farmers prefer a fine chopped crop.
@CarstenAlbrechtsen6 жыл бұрын
It makes sense :-)
@hughmarcus14 жыл бұрын
Finer chop makes for easier feeding out & less waste. If you’re loading those into a diet feeder then the chopping is already done.

hoe word de pers aangedreven ?
@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
@sck-machinery20664 жыл бұрын

@leroyhaeuser73532 жыл бұрын
Why would you go to the expense of chopping and knock off thirty percent of the leaves, and another 10% when you open the bale. Sounds expensive to me , must be some advantages to it that I don’t see?.
@forcesfarming85112 жыл бұрын
Higher Dry Matter intake for the cows eating it. They will eat more short mer grass than long hay. If you have the margin to do it why not. Plus savings from moving less bales if they are denser than not chopped. Also I doubt it’s using that much more fuel than a tractor.
@banditbeggers5334 жыл бұрын
Very good but don’t understand why. May as well put it on a tractor
@nagd20104 жыл бұрын
Using a forage harvester, the crop is chopped finer that what the knifes of a baler can do. Also, you get a higher density in the bales because it's chopped.

I was just going to ask when Case IH came out with a SP harvester but it’s a NH painter red. What a great idea of blowing the right into the baler. Must make some very nice bales! That would be fun at you don’t have to worry about trucks you can make some serious time here!
@nagd20106 жыл бұрын
Case IH had a few SP harvesters over the years, but were mostly 'red painted' versions of other brands (they are were however sold under the Case IH brand). They had a few Mengele (SF and Mammut) recolours, and this recoloured FX.

Dankje Alex.

They were sold in 3 'flavors' , the New Holland FX, this Case IH, and also (very rare) Fiatagri. Only the New Holland FX was kept in production, the other 2 were not. So it might be in a way a 'red painted FX' , but it was in fact sold as an Case IH.
