Basically, a MIB is a file that details out information about different OIDS but can be easily compared to a DNS where domain names (words) are converted into IP addresses.

Can you show how to monitor Cisco WLC please cause now I stuck with it thanks
@nagiosvideo5 жыл бұрын
Hi Katui, thanks for your question! We would monitor that device just like any other. First, we would identify which metrics we want to monitor on the device. Then we would find the OIDs associated with the things we want to monitor. Then we would use a network monitoring system like Nagios XI to actually do the monitoring. You can download Nagios XI from the link in the video description. Nagios XI has a Configuration Wizard that allows you to identify the IP/DNS of the device, specify the authentication for the device, and then you specify the OIDs you wish to monitor. For more detailed information, or to work with a technician in regards to this monitoring, please email sales@nagios.com.

How can we identify the OID and MIB of each devices such as Cisco WLC and UPS or SAN storage? Thanks in advance
@nagiosvideo5 жыл бұрын
Hi Katui! Thanks for your question. Usually when I need a MIB or the manufacturer's document that tells me the OIDs I can monitor, I will do a simple internet search like in the video (3:07). I will generally search using manufacturer's name, the model number of the device, and then the term MIB. For example, when I google "Cisco 2960 MIB" I get the information I need to monitor that specific device. Give it a shot!

Katui CSP - Hi Katui, thanks for the response. There can a number of reasons XI would not receive a response. The device might be down, the device might have an internal configuration error, or there might be a network issue. This comment section here is a difficult place to do a thorough troubleshooting, but I will say that you can get free assistance from our support technicians on the Nagios Support Forum support.nagios.com/forum/ . Here is a video on how to register and post to the forum kzbin.info/www/bejne/boDGgKiGbrSnf5Y
